Ronald Irvin Anderson

Ronald Irvin Anderson, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 29th, at The Lakes Assisted Living facility in Stillwater, MN. He was born on January 20th, 1936, to Hjalmer and Myrtle Anderson in French Lake Township, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm along the Crow River, where he worked and enjoyed life with his five siblings. Ron graduated from Cokato High School in 1954 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in 1960. He met Glorian Hieb of McClusky, ND, while working in Little Falls, MN, as an Assistant County Extension Agent for Morrison County. They married in 1962 and together had three children. They lived in Washington, IA, for a few years before permanently settling down in Crystal, MN. He spent most of his career with the Northrup King Seed Company as an Agronomist and, later, in retirement, as a Consultant with Crop Characteristics. Ron enjoyed the family farm and often took his family there for visits and reunions. He loved to spend time in the yard, and his gardens were the envy of the neighborhood. As a youth, he played multiple sports, which he would later introduce to his sons, supporting their teams and the teams of his grandchildren. He loved to go on hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. Faith was very important to Ron. As an active member of House of Hope Lutheran Church in New Hope, MN, for many years, Ron served communion, ushered services, held leadership positions, and worked on projects with his group of friends. In retirement, he enjoyed woodcarving classes at the American Swedish Institute, carving multiple figurines. A true gentleman, he was always willing to help and lend a hand. He will always be remembered as a man who put others before himself. Ron was survived by his wife, Glorian (Hieb) Anderson, sons Kirk (Dory) Anderson of Stillwater, MN, and Mark (Janel) Anderson of Plymouth, MN, along with six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by son Jeffrey Anderson, parents Hjalmer Anderson and Myrtle (Carlson) Anderson, brothers Wayland (Viola) and Marshall Anderson: sisters Doris (Duane) Wilson, Marilyn (Kenneth) Redmann and Joanne (Carl) Palmquist. A private family inurnment will be held at the North Crow River Swedish Lutheran Church on November 18th. Memorials are preferred to The Laura Baker School, 211 Oak Street, Northfield, MN 55057.
