Romelle Ann Johnson

Johnson, Romelle Ann, age 67, of St Paul, MN, passed away on June 23rd, 2023. Romelle was born in Aitken, MN on February 1, 1956 to Leonard and Rita Carlson. In 1969 she and her family moved to Lindstrom, MN. Here she began a new life with new friends, a love for sports, singing, and lifelong learning. Romelle married her high school sweetheart Brian Johnson, and the two continued their education at the University of Minnesota. In 1992 Romelle graduated with highest honors, Summa, from the University of Minnesota, School of Professional Psychology where she obtained her PHD in Psychology. Romelle was in private practice until retiring in 2009. Romelle loved sports and was often faster and tougher than her competition. Reading and writing were her daily passions. Her poems when recited always touched ones heart. In retirement, Romelle found herself traveling to treat those stricken by natural disasters and specialized in assisting those who were traumatized. Several trips were made to Ethiopia to build a badly needed bridge. All who encountered Romelle were left feeling they mattered. She helped many find their way. Romelle valued the wonderful care she received from all throughout her illness. A special thank you to the Heath Partners Care Team and those from N.C. Little Memorial Hospice LLC and Grace Hospice. Preceded in death by her father Leonard Carlson and beloved maternal grandmother Ann A Kant Glad. Survived by her mother, Rita Cook. Brother Mike Gage (Christina), their children Michael John and Mindy Hansen. Brother Kevin Gage (Carolyn), their children Amanda Gage-Didier (Patrick), great niece Gretchen Didier, and Jessica Gage. Nephews Nicholas (Alyssa) Johnson, Kyle (Hannah) Johnson, and Christopher (Lara) Johnson. Nieces Laura Johnson (Bob Larson), Erin (Jon) Turner, and former husband Brian Johnson. A memorial service will be held on July 15th, 2023 at 11am at the Washburn McReavy Edina Chapel in Edina, MN. Address: 5000 West 50th & Highway 100, (952-920-3996). Visitation one hour prior to service with luncheon to follow. Memorials to the Animal Humane Society as a remembrance will be appreciated.
