Roma Lou Vasseur

Roma Lou Tweedt was born on the 13th of December 1935, to Burnis & Bernice Tweedt, in Armstrong, Iowa. The family later moved to and settled in Jackson, Minnesota. Roma lived with her Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Wesley to complete her high school years in Fairmont, Minnesota. After graduation, she married James L. Duncan, they had five children: Wayne, Sheri, Richard "Buddy", LoriAnn "Bird", and Lynda. After her divorce, Roma met and then married Lowell Vasseur. They have spent 50 years navigating this life... through good times and bad, sickness and health... just loving each other through it all. She also loved spending time with her 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Roma worked over 20 years at Hennepin County in Social Services, where she eventually retired in the late 90's. She had a special bond with many of her co-workers... and they remained friends all through these years. After her retirement, Roma took a road trip for a month with her sister-in-law Carol, they took Route 66 out to California to visit family. It was a dream vacation she really enjoyed! She was an active member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and then Faith Lutheran Church where she enjoyed volunteering her time. She received recognition as outstanding volunteer of the year in 2007 from the Salvation Army. Roma was an avid bowler (a rare left-handed one) in a couple leagues for over 30 years, earning trophies and recognition for her high average and great scores! She enjoyed playing lawn games, biking (until she was 85 years old!) card and board games. She loved fishing, hunting, and the camping adventures she and Lowell took with their friends. Roma had fun being a member of the Red Hat Society, a social club promoting positivity and female friendships, where she served as treasurer, and eventually Queen. She earned the title of "family photographer"... filling album after album! She loved gardening, going for long walks, and puzzling. She was coordinator and planner for her graduating class reunions for many years, the 67th being this past September. Roma loved her Lord and Savior, He welcomed her home on a peaceful morning, surrounded by family. Roma is survived by her husband Lowell of Ramsey, MN; her sister Mary (John) Anderson of Burnsville, MN; her brother Butch (Candy) Tweedt of Burlington, WI; many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, her 3 daughters, 12 grandchildren & great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She has left us all a rich legacy of laughter and love; grace, forgiveness, and mercy. Roma was preceded in death by her beloved parents, sisters Bev and Margie, brothers Bayard, Ronnie, Terry and Al, and her sons Wayne and Richard. In lieu of flowers, memorial's preferred. "Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her." Proverbs 31:28
