Roland Wold

Wold, Roland Peter "Pete" of Bloomington, MN, died at age 72 on Tuesday, September 11th, 2012 of complications from Parkinson's Disease. Pete was born in St. Paul to Anne and Elmer Wold. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Jackson; brother, Charles Wold; and grandson, Owen Wold. Survived by loving wife, Elizabeth "Liz" of 47 years; children, Dr. Peter (Tamara) Wold and Molly (Wade) Sedgwick; seven grandchildren: Harrison Wold, Greta Wold, Tommy Sedgwick, Asa Wold, Penny Sedgwick, Rosie Sedgwick, Charlotte Wold; siblings, Caryl Wedes and David (Inger) Wold; and many loving nieces and nephews. Pete grew up on the East Side of St. Paul where he had a colorful childhood playing games on Wheelock Parkway, skating on Lake Phalen and raised two pet crows and three dogs named "Snooks". He graduated from Johnson High School in 1958, attended Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated from Mankato State University. For the next 27 years Pete was a Senior Sales Representative for C.V. Mosby Publishing Company selling textbooks to colleges and universities throughout the upper Midwest. Pete made many lasting friendships with colleagues and university faculty. Pete's best times were spent at home with his wife and kids. He was an incredible husband and kind father who loved spending time with his family. Pete was an athletics enthusiast who enjoyed amateur sports, coaching his kids, supporting Jaguar Football and watching his grandchildren participate in their athletics. Along the way, Pete and Liz shared many laughs, great walks, trips Up North and beyond. Many thanks to the staff of Struthers Parkinson's Center for their good care of Pete and support for our family over the last ten years. Thank you to Legacy Care Home of Minnetonka for their loving care of Pete in the past two months. Memorials to St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Struthers Parkinson's Center, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Minnesota State University- Mankato. Funeral service Tuesday, September 18th, 2012, 11:00am with visitation one hour before at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 8400 France Ave, S., Bloomington, MN 55431.
