Rodney Cleve Taylor

Taylor, Rodney C. (Rod) Age 74 of Dayton, MN. Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Born on May 8, 1948 in Hartley, Iowa. Passed away on December 28, 2022 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota and was met by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Grew up on a working farm with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Moved to the Twin Cities after graduating high school and attended Dunwoody Institute. In 1976, Rod married the love of his life, Patricia Gallus. Together they raised 5 children. He began his professional career in architectural drafting and home construction which culminated after nearly 50 years with his retirement from Scherer Bros. Lumber Co. in 2019. Rod enjoyed home repair and improvement related projects and was always quick to take on a new one of these at home or at the home of one of his children. He loved to bowl and bowled on several leagues for over 30 years. Golfing was something Rod "tolerated" simply for the purpose of spending time with his boys. In 2019 Rod and Pat purchased a lakeside cabin in central Minnesota where he was excited to have a whole new list of projects to take on. Rod looked forward to each and every trip to the cabin where He and Pat could spend quality time together while they awaited the arrival of family and friends for relaxing, visiting, pontoon rides, fishing and grilling dinner. Rod is preceded in death by his parents, Quentin and Luella Taylor. Survived by his loving wife, Pat; His children, Shelley (Dave) Boettcher, Kyle (Ginal) Taylor, Brian (Cindy) Rahn, Chad Taylor and Chris (Lyndsey) Taylor; Grandchildren, Kyleigh, Jordan, Whitney, Jessie, Nick, Sydney, Nathan and Lydia; Great Grandchildren, Clara, Jonah, EllaMae, Rosie, Serena, Charlotte, Dean, Juliet, Harrison; Brothers, Greg, Stan and Brad; Sisters, RoAnn and Monette and many other relatives and friends. "Every mans life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived that distinguish one man from another." Trump 2024. Memorial service to be held Monday, January 9th at 12PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel. Visitation 2 hour prior, beginning at 10AM. Reception to follow at the Coon Rapids VFW from 1PM-3PM.
