Robert Shebeck

Shebeck, Robert Edward age 60, of Minnetonka, passed away due to complications from Multiple Myeloma on February 26, 2010. Bob is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, LaRee; his children, The Rev. Patrick Shebeck and Amy Shebeck of Chicago; his sister, Karen (Craig) Allard of Woodbury; his niece, Heidi Allard of Souix Falls, South Dakota, Erik Allard of Mankato, and Bjorn Allard of Woodbury, and a large extended family. Bob completed his undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota, and graduated from the Industrial Relations School in 1976 with an MBA. Bob was employed in benefits administration at Control Data, Toro Inc., Medtronic, and completed his career at the Supervalu Corporation where he worked since 1981 as the Director of Compensation and Benefits. Bob was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Hopkins, where he served as president of the parish council, and as an active volunteer. He also volunteered as an ESL instructor in the Adult Options Program in Hopkins, working with recent immigrants to the United States. Bob had a life-long love of baseball and track, was an avid reader of history, and was a dedicated world- traveler. Bob was a generous philanthropist, supporting causes that were important to him and advocating on behalf of social justice and improved conditions for those living in need. Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, March 4th at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins (715 Minnetonka Mills Road), with the reviewal at 9.30 a.m. followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Gethsemane Memorial foundation or the ICA (Inter-Church- Association) foodshelf of Minnetonka. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Dr. J. P. Carlson of the University of Minnesota and the staff of the Frauenschuh Cancer Center for their care and encouragement these past years, as well as Dr. Suzanne Hayman of the Mayo Clinic. Additional thanks are owed to Dr. G. Grover and the staff of Methodist Hospital, especially to Bob's nurse, Laurie. Although he will be greatly missed, his impact on those he touched will continue for many, many years; his dedication and focus will continue to stand as an example of Christian vocation.
