Robert (Bob) Rae Jr.-beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather-died unexpectedly on August 2, 2023. Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Joshua, Nicole and Anne, and their respective spouses, Vanessa, Alex and Sam; stepchildren, Ally, Noah and Clay; grandchildren, Charlotte and Theodore; mother, Barbara; brother, Rick, and sister-in-law, Katie; and countless friends and family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Rae Sr. Bob was born to Barbara and Robert Rae Sr. on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1962. He and his younger brother, Rick, grew up with their parents in Bloomington, MN. Bob attended Mankato State (now Minnesota State) University for both his undergraduate and graduate studies. He played baseball as an undergrad and received All-NCC First Team honors as a third baseman in 1984. During this time, he met his first wife, Sandra (Sandi). Bob graduated college in 1986 with a B.S. in Recreation Parks and Leisure Services. Throughout his early career, Bob worked at companies such as General Mills and the Minnesota Twins. In 1992, he began working with his dad at RBC Dain Rauscher as a financial advisor. He worked for RBC for more than 24 years and later moved to Ameriprise Financial. Bob cared deeply about every one of his clients, always wanting the best for them. Bob and Sandi had three children together: Joshua, Nicole and Anne. Bob was a loving and supportive father, always cheering on his kids at their sporting events and other activities, and taking great pride in all that they did. He loved traveling with his family, and was active in the church community. Bob and Sandi divorced early in 2013. Bob met Nancy on August 2, 2013. The two quickly realized how much they had in common, and so began their loving relationship. They were married in December 2020. Bob and Nancy loved to spend time with their friends, enjoy a day on the lake, relax with their beloved dog, Sadie, and play cards with their kids. With six kids combined (three boys and three girls), they often joked about being the Brady Bunch. Their families blended seamlessly, supporting each other and bantering as if they had been siblings forever. It was a huge blessing for Bob and Nancy that the kids created and continue to share lifelong bonds with each other. Bob had an infectious energy and a strong presence; he made a lasting impression on those around him. He loved his family, friends, and faith. They were his world. We invite you to think of Bob when you: play golf; fall asleep watching golf; go boating with friends; rinse your dish before putting it in the dishwasher; make a dad joke; call an old friend; put "SWAK" (sealed with a kiss) on the outside of a card; go on a cruise; put your glasses on top of your head; read the paper first thing in the morning; tell your friends or family that they need to read or watch something, and then send a follow up reminder; show up for your child or grandchild; pick up someone from the airport in Departures rather than Arrivals to avoid traffic; play baseball or wiffle ball; try to get a better deal on something; buy your adult children's favorite foods when you know they're coming over; remember every anniversary and special date; not go easy on your tennis, racquetball, or ping pong opponent; cuddle with your dog; get annoyed at your dog and then soon fall asleep with them on your lap; read a good book; watch a Minnesota sports team make a bad play and instantly say the game (and possibly season) is over; enjoy a pumpkin flavored dessert on Thanksgiving. A service in honor of Bob's life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 24th at Hope Church, 7132 Portland Ave, Richfield, MN 55423. Visitation 1 hour prior.
