Lee, Robert H. Robert H. Lee of Bloomington, Minnesota passed away during the night on June 1, 2014. He was born on July 23, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Paulette, his brother Jeffrey and sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth, his sons Eric and Ryan, his daughters-in-law Kelly Rebecca and Kelly Nicole, his grandchildren Mildred, Robert, June and Parker, special niece Stacy Bennett and many loving relatives. A graduate of Washburn High School and University of Minnesota School of Journalism, Bob was perpetually curious and an avid reader - his nightstand was an array of books and magazines in varying stages of completion. A fan of Woody, Pete, & Bob, Robs always enjoyed a good folk tune and encouraged a love of music in others. One of Bob's early newspaper jobs brought him to the Daily Herald in Austin, MN. Here his life was forever changed when he met and married Paulette, deciding to start a family. Bob extended his prodigious writing skills into public relations work for the University of Minnesota Hospitals (67-80). He founded the Health Sciences Information Office to direct media handling for the hospital and medical staff, with a professional highlight coordinating the balance of privacy and public interest regarding Senator Hubert H. Humphrey's care. After a few years directing a similar function at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, Robs brought the family back to Minnesota to their west Bloomington residence of the past 32 years. Bob was driven to volunteer, not only active with the American Cancer Society for nearly two decades, but to the point of a career change to lead non-profits as Executive Director for Twin Cities Neighborhood Housing (84-93) and The Jacob Wetterling Foundation (93-01). In retire-ment, Bob brought his passion to the District DFL Committee and to Metro South Adult Basic Education (formerly SHAPE), where he tutored recent immigrants in computer skills as well as assisted with adult literacy tutoring. Throughout life, Bob dazzled new friends and old with a charmingly dry wit and a curiosity born out of respect for all people. Refusing to be defined by disability, Bob lived with Cerebral Palsy and was fiercely independent until he could be no more. He insisted on independent mobility as it maintained his strength as well as his independent spirit. In lieu of flowers, Bob wished to have memorials made to the American Cancer Society and to Camp Encourage, an overnight camp for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders founded by his daughter-in-law. A special thanks to the Allina Homecare staff who worked Bob: Sarah E., Teresa, and Talonna. Services will be at Washburn-McReavy's Dawn Valley Chapel, 9940 Bush Lake Rd., Bloomington, MN (952-941-7686) Friday, June 13th with Visitation at 1PM and Service at 2PM.
