Robert Bruce Anderson

It is with sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Bruce Anderson, aged 78, who entered life eternal on October 8th, 2023, following a brief illness. Bob was born on January 24, 1945, in Minneapolis; the youngest of eleven children born to Viola Lily (Sinkel) and Arthur Pearly Anderson. Bob grew up in South Minneapolis, playing basketball, running cross country, and spending time with siblings and friends. Bob graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1963 followed by a lengthy career in the grocery industry. Bob and Barbara Jean Phillips were married on September 30, 1967. They began their married life in Hilltop near NE Minneapolis, and fondly recalled their early years together in their first home. Following the birth of their children, Bob and Barb relocated to Onalaska, WI and later to River Falls, WI meeting many dear friends along the way, prior to returning to Minneapolis. Bob had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his family each year, including as recently as last fall. He remained determined to get out in the woods while he was able and had a plan to hunt this November. Bob spent time coaching youth basketball and baseball when his kids were young. He cared deeply for his grandchildren and attended their activities whenever possible. He never missed an Anderson family picnic to spend time with his siblings and their families. Bob was a loving and loyal man who cared deeply for those in his life. His legacy will live on in those who knew and loved him. May his memory always be a blessing. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barb, his children Terri (Jim) Warren and Mike Anderson, his grandchildren, Zoey, Betsy, Mason and Joe, his brother Richard (Phyllis) Anderson, and many family members and friends. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Saturday, October 28th at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3312 Silver Lake Road in St. Anthony MN, with visitation at 10 a.m. and service beginning at 11 a.m. Please join the family for luncheon in the Fellowship Hall following the service. All are welcome to share remembrances of Bob during this time. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Ruffed Grouse Society or donor's choice.
