Richard W. Lillehaug

Richard William Lillehaug of Coon Rapids, MN. passed away in his home surrounded by family on Sept 5 2015 at the age of 74. Military service was held on Sept 8 with visitation at 3:00pm service at 4:00pm. Luncheon followed at family home. Richard was born in Graceville, MN on May 6, 1941, the eldest son born to Walter and Ella Lillehaug. He grew up and attended Wheaton High School. After High School he enlisted in the Army and served 4 years in the military stationed in Korea. He always enjoyed telling stories of working guard duty on the DMZ or working in the motor pool. Shortly after returning home from the service, he and his family moved to California. He worked at Alcoa Aluminum for 2 years in California and returned back to Minnesota. He loved the outdoors, so he took a job doing road construction for 2 years working across North Dakota. On July 24. 1967 he married the love of his life Sharon Carlson of Wheaton. They moved to Minneapolis and he took a job with Trussbuilt Manufacturing where he stayed for 22 years building prison doors as a welder until the company moved out of state. He started his own landscaping business which he worked at until retirement. Richard loved country living and small towns, that is why he loved going to Wheaton. He loved spending time with his family and brothers and sisters. He loved old cars and was able to purchase a 1933 Plymouth which was his "baby". He enjoyed traveling back to the Wheaton area which resulting in buying a couple of houses in town. Richard loved snowmobiling, meeting with his veteran friends every Wednesday for coffee, and driving his old car. He enjoyed telling stories to his grandsons about his life, taking them down to the Coon Rapids Dam to learn to fish and taking walks in the woods. Richard is survived by his wife Sharon of Coon Rapids, MN. , son Scott (Amy) Eagan, MN. His two grandsons, Walker Lillehaug, Logan Lillehaug. Brothers, Don (Connie) Lillehaug, Tom (Joyce) Lillehaug, Fritz (Jan) Lillehaug, David Lillehaug, Dennis (Donna) Lillehaug. His sisters, Nancy (Myles) Peterson, Beverly (John) Pelletier, Jane (Roger) Begin and many nephews and nieces. Richard is greeted in heaven by his son Daniel, his parents Walter and Ella Lillehaug, his brother Bob Lillehaug, his sister Betty Lillehaug sister-in-law Carol Lillehaug and nephew, Joshua Hanson.
