Richard "Rick" Jabs

Bloomington, MN - Richard Charles "Rick" Jabs, age 72, passed away on August 24, 2025. Born on September 6, 1952, in St. Paul, MN to Robert and Elizabeth Jabs, Rick lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering dedication to family and community, and an infectious spirit. Rick's strong foundation of faith was rooted in the teachings at St. Luke's Elementary and Cretin High School and continued as a devoted member of the Church of the Assumption in Richfield, MN. A resident of Richfield for over three decades, Rick was deeply invested in his community. He believed in the power of unity and growth and took great pride in contributing to the place he called home. Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joanne. Together they raised a loving family that became the center of Rick's world. He is survived by his children: Jennifer (Nate) Hoke, Jeff Jabs (Kati), Tony (Jenny) Jabs, and Allison (David) Wabbe; grandchildren: Isabella, Lincoln, Harrison, Ava, and Jackson; siblings: Lynn Garvey, Steve (Dana) Jabs, and Robie Carlson, and life-long friend Peter (Jo) Binker. Rick was the #1 fan of his grandchildren-his pride evident as he cheered them on at countless games, performances, and milestones. His presence was constant and enthusiastic, celebrating their victories with joy and offering encouragement with warmth. Rick embraced life with humor and heart. Known for his sharp wit and kind eyes, he had a welcoming demeanor that made everyone feel at ease. His personality shone even brighter than his legendary holiday displays. Ever the go-getter, Rick enjoyed hitting the fairways for a round of golf, playing BAGGO, toe-tapping to live music, chasing strikes with the "We Be Bowlin" crew, and trying his luck at Mystic Lake. Rick's legacy lives on through the laughter he shared, the love he gave so freely, and the countless lives he impacted along the way. May his memory continue to inspire kindness in others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you pay it forward to others. A private memorial service was held at Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington.
