Reece S. Devlin Reece S. Devlin of Minneapolis, MN and Perth, Western Australia passed away at home on January 29, 2023 at the age of 53. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean, his beloved children, Liam and Chloe, his parents Lyn and Rob (Kaye), his sister Tamara, brother- in-law Joseph O'Callaghan, beloved pup, Bickie and many family members and friends. Prior to commencing his professional career in the US, Reece served in the Australian Army reserves in Perth, WA. He was proud to serve his country and fully embraced the structure, discipline and camaraderie that the Army provided. These qualities shaped who he was and they served him well throughout his life. His Australian roots were always a big part of who he was and he remained a devoted fan of his Australian rules football team, the West Coast Eagles, often watching a game at all hours of the night. Light-hearted and gentle in nature, Reece never stressed and rolled with the punches; he always found the humor in things and laughed often. Reece was your quintessential Australian, and as an expat, he actively connected with other expats to create a sense of community for them. He put people first and was there for so many in their time of personal need. As a Financial Service Office (FSO) Banking Capital Markets (BCM) Audit Partner, Reece was with EY for nearly 26 years. He started with EY in New York, and over his tenure moved to work in Australia and then to Minneapolis where he settled with his family. Reece made partner in 2006 and served global accounts in BCM including U.S. Bancorp, UBS and National Australia Bank. With a passion for driving the audit practice forward, he became the FSO Assurance BCM Innovation Leader. From there, Reece took on a larger role in 2019 as the FSO Assurance Innovation Leader to start up a dedicated innovation practice. Under his leadership, the three-member team operating out of New York grew to a 50+ strong technology practice across the U.S. and India. Reece was instrumental in the coordination of the FSO Assurance innovation and technology tools, teaming cross-service line and with Global and Americas Assurance. His efforts were leveraged across the entire global firm. In addition to his passion for his career, he loved history, current events and the gossip column. But above all, Reece loved his family. He loved supporting Liam and Chloe in all of their endeavors whether it be a hockey game or a swim meet. His children shared his sense of humor and they loved watching their favorite episodes of "Brooklyn 99" together. He loved to cook and while he didn't get to do it very often, he was a master on the BBQ and his holiday roast would rival any Master Chef. Reece spent most of his free time with his wife, Jean. They enjoyed trying new restaurants, watching Netflix shows, comparing peloton rides and planning their next adventure. He even started playing pickleball and paddle tennis at Jean's request and was quite the competitor on the court. He lived for vacations with his family, making regular trips to their summer home in Breezy Point, New York and, of course, to Australia. He enjoyed planning vacations as much as going on them, always looking for ways to give others an experience, suggesting the best things to see and eat - and where to get the best coffee. Reece had a magnetism that drew everyone in, wherever he went. He forged strong relationships and left lasting impacts on, family, friends and colleagues. He will deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Reece's name to the American Heart Association.
