Raymond Frank Vorderbruggen, 82 October 15th, 1940 - August 31, 2023 Raymond, with his wife and family at his side, left us on August 31, 2023. Throughout life Raymond held family ties close to his heart. He spent a significant amount of his time dedicated to researching his family history and tree. Raymond was fascinated with understanding his family ties to historical figures, moments in history, and just how vast his family reached. When he wasn't researching the history of his family, he was fostering the relationships he held within his family. These two often overlapped as Ray would tell you a new historic figure his family was connected to, or the phone call or letter he shared with a distant relative. Anytime you were around Ray he would be sharing a story about one of his relatives, children, or grandchildren. He was known for being a talker. If you found the time to lend your ear to Ray, he would share a story he thought you would enjoy or that had a lesson to teach you. He absolutely loved to tell you a good enjoyable story. Ray had a big heart. Ray did not care if you were a longtime friend, a new budding friendship, or if you had just met; he was never afraid to be the first person to lend a helping hand. What was important to Ray was that he had the help to lend, all you needed to do was ask. When Raymond wasn't helping others or spending time building connections with friends of family. He loved to bake for others as much as he loved a good meal. If you were ever at an event or gathering with Raymond, you always knew you were going to be leaving with a bag of freshly baked cookies! Ray was a collector of many things. He collected valuable friendships, cookie recipes, trinkets, and clocks. Every piece of Raymond's collection held a special meaning or a memory to him. Ray was always on the lookout for a new item to add to his collection, a new recipe to learn and share, or a relationship to value. Raymond lived a very full life. Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. His time in the Air Force he served in the Air Force as an aviation radio/electronic technician. After leaving the Air Force he began working at Northwest Airline in 1966. He loved working there so much he continued a career with them for 39 years. At Northwest he met many of his long-life friends as coworkers. He continued to build these friendships late into his life, often taking the time to have breakfast with them to catch up and reconnect, , and share stories and laughs from the past. God Saw You Getting Tired God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So he put his arms around you And whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you As you slowly slipped away And through we loved you dearly We couldn't make you stay.
