Rayco Neftali Richardson

How do you say goodbye to the person who showed up when things got hard, who stood between you and whatever was trying to hurt you, and who somehow made you feel safer just by being there? There are some people whose presence is so big, so strong, and so unforgettable that it is hard to imagine a world without them in it. Rayco Richardson was one of those people. On May 29, 2026, our hearts were forever changed when we lost Rayco Neftali Richardson. Rayco wasn't perfect, and he never pretended to be. He was real. He loved hard, protected fiercely, spoke his mind, and lived life with a passion that could not be ignored. He carried the weight of his own battles while still finding the strength to fight for and protect the people he loved. Born August 29, 1975, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Mary Ann Richardson and John Daniel Higgins, Rayco carried himself with a strength that was evident from an early age. Life was not always easy, but he met every challenge head-on. He fought hard to find avenues to access the life he wanted for himself and the people he loved. Giving up was simply not in his nature. Rayco was a proud father to Kaleb (Yasmin), Terrin, Rayco Jr, Daniel, and grandfather to Xaryianna and Zivon. He loved his family and took pride in seeing them succeed. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, mother, and siblings Ronnie, Traelena, and Maurice, along with countless relatives, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who were blessed to know him. Rayco attended Summit Academy's Construction Program and built a career in metal fabrication. He was incredibly skilled with his hands and possessed a natural ability to solve problems. He was respected for his knowledge and strong work ethic. Rayco worked hard and never acted as though he was above anyone else, despite his remarkable skill and knowledge. He helped make the places he worked better simply by showing up and giving his all. Rayco enjoyed fishing, building customized speakers, working on cars, gardening, reading, watching sports, especially boxing. Whether he was watching a fight or boxing himself, the sport reflected something about who he was: a fighter and survivor with heart. Rayco knew how to make people laugh. His laugh was infectious and full of life; it had a way of filling a room and making everyone around him laugh too. It was impossible to hear it and not smile. Rayco could be direct, and he could challenge you, but those who knew him understood that it came from a place of caring. He wanted the people around him to be strong, successful, and capable of handling whatever life placed in front of them. Rayco believed that you could accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. He worked very hard, pushed through obstacles, and encouraged others to do the same. One of his favorite sayings was, "I gotta get in where I fit in." and that's exactly what he did. If you were lucky enough to be welcomed into Rayco's world, you became family. He was generous, loyal, and willing to help anyone in need. Many people can honestly say their lives were touched because Rayco was a part of it. The hardest part of losing someone like Rayco is knowing that there will never be another like him. Today, our hearts are broken because someone we loved so deeply is no longer here with us. We will miss the sound of his voice, the strength of his presence, his stories, and his advice. His legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren, family, friends and countless lives he touched simply by being himself. Even in our grief, we are grateful. Grateful that we knew him. Grateful for the memories we shared with him. Grateful that we loved him and were loved by him. As we say goodbye, we can almost hear him telling us what he always believed: keep going, keep fighting, and don't let life or people stop you. The phone may never ring with his number again, but the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the strength he poured into those around him will continue to dwell with us for years to come. If love could have kept him here, Rayco would have lived forever. We love you so much Rayco and are really going to miss you. Please rest now and be at peace.
