Randall Kenneth Schostag

Golden Valley - Age 80, of Golden Valley, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Randy was a devoted husband, father, and friend-a man whose kindness, curiosity, and gentle humor touched everyone he met. He loved animals, cheeseburgers, popcorn, and a good book. His booming laughter and sharp intellect will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jill; sons Rick (Stephanie Djerf) and Jake (Viktorija) Schostag; and brother David Schostag. His memory will live on through his niece, nephews, extended family, and countless friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Schostag. Born and raised on his family's farm in Mankato, Randy excelled as a student and campus leader, gymnast, and even performed as a magician and ventriloquist. He left Mankato State University to serve his country in the U.S. Army, completing tours in Germany and Vietnam. After returning home, Randy met Jill and began a lifelong partnership. Together they built a home in Golden Valley, where they raised their two sons and created a life filled with love and laughter. Randy's entrepreneurial spirit and insatiable curiosity led him to explore many career paths before founding Minnesota Business Valuation Group, where he provided financial valuation and appraisal services to clients across diverse industries. His lifelong commitment to learning was evident in his wide-ranging interests-performance, magic, business, politics, history, fine arts, and voiceover work. Randy inspired others to think independently and always pursue their passions. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the care teams at the Minnesota Veterans Home and VA Medical Center, and especially to Jill for her love and support. A celebration of Randy's life will be held Monday, December 15, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. & service at 10:30 a.m., at Minnesota Veterans Home, 5101 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis. Private interment at a later date at Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse, WI.
