Raelita Foster

Raelita "Rae" Foster was born on December 25, 1959, a Christmas gift to her parents, Napoleon Foster and Rosemary Benford. She was preceded in death by her loving partner of over 10 years, Lauren. Rae grew up in South Minneapolis, where her vibrant spirit began to shine. She attended Field Elementary, Ramsey Junior High School, and Washburn High School. Her athletic talents took her to Suomi College, where she helped her team become District Champions in 1979. Later, Rae continued her education at Metropolitan (Metro)Junior College, earning a place in the Junior College Hall of Fame. Rae's love for sports didn't stop there. She tried out for the Minnesota Fillies, a professional women's basketball team, showcasing her fearless determination. Although she didn't make the team, Rae's resilience never wavered. Knee injuries eventually ended her basketball career, but she found new joy on the golf course, winning numerous tournaments, including her final competition, the Bronze Tournament at Hiawatha Club Course. Rae's professional journey was as varied as her passions. She began her career as a cook at Green Mill on 24th and Hennepin Avenue. Later, Rae moved to Chicago, where she became an engineer in the one of the city's iconic skyscrapers. After five years, she returned to Minnesota, bought her first home near her mother, and worked at the Minneapolis Convention Center. It was during this time that Rae met Lauren. They built a life together, moving into a new home and sharing many memories before parting ways. Rae's journey eventually led her to Poinciana, Florida, where she bought a beautiful home and found fulfillment working at the Orlando Convention Center. In retirement, Rae embraced life with the same enthusiasm that defined her. She enjoyed fishing, riding her motorcycle and four-wheeler, and spending peaceful days feeding the squirrels in her yard , walking her dogs and working on projects in her garage- a daily ritual that brought her joy. Rae lived her life unapologetically and fully. She was a woman of impeccable taste, known for smoking the finest cigars, sipping top-shelf cognac, driving stylish cars, and adorning herself in fashionable clothes, lots of jewelry, and matching shoes. Rae faced life's ups and downs with grace, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience and let's not forget her very strong-willed. Rae, will be deeply missed by her family: her older sister, Racquel McNeal; her older brother, Rodney Hill (wife, Christina Hill-McNeal); her younger sisters, Marla Wilbert, Nicole Foster-Watkins (husband, Myron Watkin Jr.), and Natalie Payne (preceded in death by Husband Tim Payne). Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rae, your pain is gone, and you are at peace now, sitting alongside Your Mother and Father . We will miss you, our dear sister. Your love, light, and unforgettable spirit will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in power, Rae. We love you.
