Phyllis Louise Olsson

Phyllis Olsson, beloved wife of Bill Olsson, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024 at the age of 88. Survived by husband, Bill; children, her son Eric and his wife Laurie and daughter Kristin; grandchildren Nick and his wife Ali, Zach and Amanda; great-grandchild, Sophia. Phyllis was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on November 8, 1935, to a family deeply rooted in faith, as her father and grandfather were Lutheran ministers. On March 6, 1965, she married the love of her life, Bill, and together they raised two children, Eric and Kris. Phyllis was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and love, touching the lives of all who knew her. She made lifelong friends wherever she went, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. Her unwavering faith in humanity allowed her to see the best in people, never holding onto grudges and always extending a helping hand without expecting anything in return. Throughout her career as a social worker in Hennepin County and later in a part-time role at the University of Minnesota, Phyllis dedicated herself to serving others, embodying her belief in the power of empathy and connection. She had a special knack for remembering people, whether through heartfelt phone calls, thoughtful cards, or homemade chicken soup. Phyllis found joy in watching her family flourish, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She loved hosting gatherings, particularly during the festive seasons of Christmas and Easter, where she delighted in bringing loved ones together around the table. Traveling was another passion that Phyllis and Bill shared, exploring both near and far, from cozy cabins in the woods to exotic destinations abroad. Whether enjoying the symphony, theater performances, or cheering on the Minnesota sports teams, they cherished each moment spent together. In her final years, Phyllis faced health challenges with courage and grace, surrounded by the love of her family. Though her physical presence is deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As Phyllis journeys into eternity, may her memory continue to inspire us to live with compassion, generosity, and faith. We take solace in knowing that she is now at peace, free from pain and suffering, walking among the angels in heaven. Until we meet again, dear Phyllis, you will always be cherished and remembered with love.
