Patricia Mae Eikos

Eikos, Patricia Mae (née Johnson) 7/16/1929 - 2/10/2024 Age 94 Pat was the youngest of 11 children born to William Oscar Johnson and Ellen Cecilia McGraw, in Chisholm, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and the love of her life Don Eikos, stepson Tom Eikos, 9 siblings and their spouses: Ethel, Stanley (Betty), Harold (Patsy), Walter (Helen), Roy, Lee (Florence), Earl (Mickey, Dorie), June (Vern), Molly (Harry), and brothers-in-law George Levchak and Charles Eckel. She is survived by Don's children Sue (Tom) Gorg, Jim (Diane) Eikos and Sandy Pederson, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, her sister Ruth Eckel, many nieces and nephews. Pat's career was spent as an Executive Secretary and Administrative Assistant to the Trustees at the Cargill Corporate Offices in Minneapolis. Always impeccably and stylishly dressed, she was capable, professional, and skillful in her work. She was a role model to her nieces. Pat and Don were married in December of 1974, and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2024. Now, it will be a heavenly celebration. Pat loved to fish and spend time with Don at their "lake place" on Mille Lacs. Her oldest sister Ethel ("The Kid") was invited to accompany them many weekends. Other interests included golfing, traveling, writing (and receiving) cards and letters, and dining out. She and Don spent several winters in Florida to escape the snow and cold of Minnesota. In the family, Pat usually was not responsible for cooking the turkey on holidays. She was best known for making her special caramel brownies, fudge and "Patsy bars." A gift of any or all of them was always appreciated. Aunt Pat introduced her nieces and nephews to homemade pepperoni pizza when they were young. Pat was very proud of her Catholic faith and Irish heritage. She was a member of St. Bridget's parish in the Camden area of North Minneapolis. As Godmother to several nieces, attendance at their Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation and wedding was an important part of her life. St. Patrick's Day was always a much-anticipated date on the calendar. Family parties on March 17 were the best, complete with "costumes" and shamrock paraphernalia. Her favorite color? Green, of course. Hand-written cards and notes in her special upper-case font, with Irish proverbs and encouraging words, are now treasures to keep and reread. She never missed an occasion to congratulate or cheer on her nieces and nephews, often including a check to buy a treat. Poems and long, detailed letters to her siblings kept the family close. She did keep the USPS quite busy! "Aunt Patsy" was a family favorite. Her kindness and generosity, her quick wit and sense of humor will be missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 8, at the church of St. Alphonsus, 7025 Halifax Ave. N., Brooklyn Center, 55429. Visitation at 10:00 A.M., Mass at 11:00. Luncheon to follow in the church Community Room. Interment at Fort Snelling. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Special thanks to the Staff from the Maranatha Care Center for their kind care and attention to Pat for the past several years. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on the St. Alphonsus church website for those that cannot attend.
