Norma Fay Norell

Norell, Norma Fay On May 21st, 2021 Norma Fay Norell, loving wife of 55 years and mother of four boys, went to be with the Lord at the age of 94. Norma was born on May 5th, 1927 outside of Brewster, Minnesota to William and Anne (Christiansen) Kraft. She grew up as a farm girl with 2 sisters (Verna and Darlene) and a brother (Jim). She graduated from Brewster High School and moved to Minneapolis in 1948 to become a secretary for Reverend Youngdahl at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church where she worked for several years. She met her husband Ray at a hayride event during a Lutheran Brotherhood outing. They were married on June 12th,1949. They raised four boys, Steve (1953), Rick (1956), Kent (1958) and Paul (1963). Norma had an incredibly positive effect on anyone she would meet. She loved people and was completely committed to her faith in Jesus Christ. Norma would love to help people in any way she could, but most importantly, she loved to share her deep faith in her Lord and Savior. She would read the Bible, go to church regularly and host backyard Bible camps for kids in her neighborhood. She worked tirelessly for many years for the Billy Graham Organization and for New Life Homes and Family Services, where she would be on call countless nights, counseling young girls in difficult life situations. No one has affected the lives of so many with so little. She was a true example of Christ's love for others. She also loved to bake cookies and cinnamon rolls, garden and travel with her husband and family. Everyone knew her for the stories she would tell about her life. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and truly had a genuine compassion for others. Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Peter Norell and her two sisters, Verna and Darlene and her son Rick, who recently passed away from ALS in 2020. She is survived by her brother, James and three of her children and four daughter-in-laws: Steve and Barb, Rick's wife Jane, Kent and Janet and Paul and Karen. She also has 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all who she loves very much. Remarkably, all of her sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren have a strong Christian faith. We will all miss her deeply and are very thankful for the legacy she created for us. She truly has lived a full and beautiful life. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at the City Hill Church on 12901 Roberts Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 at 10:30AM. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:30AM at City Hill Church as well. Lunch will follow at noon at the same location. Donations can be made to Youth With a Mission at 12851 Roberts Drive, Eden Prairie MN 55346.
