Natalie "Natalia" (Krauch) Lund

Lund Natalie "Natalia" Charlotte (nee Krauch) Lund, age 89, of Minneapolis and formerly of Edina, born May 19, 1916 and passed July 29, 2005. Preceded in death in 1988 by her husband of 45 years, William O. Lund, Jr. and by her parents, William and Martha (nee Stork) Krauch of Saint Paul. In the early 1900s, her father, William Krauch, was an architect in the Saint Paul area. Natalie's maternal grandparents immigrated from Germany between 1900-1903 with seven children including her mother. The Stork family eventually built a successful wholesale poultry processing business in the New Ulm area. Natalie attended Central High School in Saint Paul and graduated in 1934 from the University of Minnesota where she majored in English and minored in Music. She subsequently taught English and music in Buffalo, MN during the Depression and later became a school librarian in Rochester, MN. In 1943 she married Bill Lund, also a graduate of the University of Minnesota, upon his return from Army service in WWII. Bill eventually became owner of Lund Press in Minneapolis, which had been founded in 1924 by his father, William O. Lund, Sr. Influenced by her immigrant grandparents, Natalie always believed in helping students achieve their dreams and in making life more meaningful for people, despite their handicaps. Out of her lifetime interest in education and healthcare, Natalie was honored as "Outstanding Individual Philanthropist" in 2001 by the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Active in community affairs and civic-minded, Natalie had a keen interest in public issues because of her concern for people. She served as president of the St. Louis Park Woman's Club and co-founded the St. Louis Park Concert Series. She became an active member of the Minneapolis Woman's Club and of Gustavus-Adolphus Library Associates, as well as of the Woman's Christian Association which started Jones-Harrison Residence in 1888. The Lunds were long- time members of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Memorial service 10 AM Friday, August 5, at Jones-Harrison Residence at 3700 Cedar Lake Ave in Minneapolis (612-920-2030). Private interment at Fort Snelling Nat'l Cemetery.
