Muriel Peterson-Dashiell

Peterson-Dashiell, Muriel L. Age 96, passed away April 1, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born July 5, 1914 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Irving L. and Sophie Olson Green. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Muriel was married to Lawrence Raymond Peterson on September 9, 1939 until his death January 25, 1968. She later married Newton "Dash" Dashiell from June 23, 1979 until his death on February 4, 2004. Muriel was a long time Minnesota resident, and was also a Sun City, Arizona "snowbird" for many years. For the last four years, she had been living in Tulsa, Oklahoma near her son Bob and daughter-in-law Cindy. Muriel is survived by son, Donald R. Peterson and wife Janet; daughter, Margaret L. Peterson; and son, Robert A. Peterson and wife Cindy; four grandchildren, Don Peterson, Jr., Kristen Erickson, Christopher Peterson and Claire Peterson; six great- grandchildren and many good friends and extended family. She is also survived by step-sons, Thomas G. Dashiell and wife Marilyn, Dave Dashiell and wife Terry; four grandchildren, Adam Dashiell and wife Jeanine, Marea Dashiell, Aaron Dashiell and wife Cynthia, Lea Langhoff and husband Joshua; and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of Valley of Peace Lutheran Church of Golden Valley MN. She was later a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN. Her faith in God was important to her throughout her life. Muriel was known to be a warm, caring lady with a very positive attitude. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Wherever she lived, she tended to her gardens and enjoyed the flowers and birds. To the very end, she had a twinkle in her lovely blue eyes, a beautiful, welcoming smile, and was always grateful to see friends and family, whom she dearly loved. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her honor to the charity of your choice. Some of her favorites were the churches she attended, the Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements are by Moore Funeral Home in Tulsa, OK and Washburn- McReavy in Minneapolis. Services will be held at The Memorial Chapel at Lakewood Cemetery, 36th St. at Hennepin Ave S, Minneapolis on Wednesday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow.
