Mary W O'Meara

O'Meara, Mary W. of Edina MN, passed to her Heavenly Home on August 30, 2016. Mary was born in March 1930 in Independence, Iowa to Herb and Christina Wendling. The second born of eight children: Loretta, Genevieve, Eleanor, Junior, Anna, Irene, Louis. She received her Teaching Certificate from Mount Mercy College and married Patrick James O'Meara in 1950. Mary and Patrick spent several years living at West Point Military Academy, New York, where Patrick was stationed in the early 1950's. They moved from Iowa to Minneapolis, MN with their four children (Mary-Ann, Patrick Jr., Brian, Timothy) in 1960. A beloved and delightful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, Co-worker; she will always be affectionately remembered for her unfailing love and devotion, caring spirit, generosity, zest and zeal, in a most inspiring life lived to the fullest. Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was reflected in the many aspects of her life including Elementary School Teacher, Amazing Cancer Survivor since 1963, Political Campaign Volunteer and Activist, Meals On Wheels Volunteer, Seamstress and Costume Designer, MADD Supporter, Self-Taught Carpenter, Top Sales Associate Awards, Child Day Care and Event Planner, Neighborhood Cookie Minister, Lord's Pantry Volunteer, Peed The Children Volunteer, Car Pool Driver and Therapist on Wheels, Boy Scout and Blue Birds Mentor, Extraordinary Homemaker Awards, Church Ambassadors Hostess, Mental Health Awareness Committee Chair, Metropolitan State University Graduate. Preceded in death: Husband of 55 years, Patrick (2005); Grandson, Brian Jr. (2005); Infant Son (1962). Survived by Children Mary-Ann, Patrick, Brian, Timothy, 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, and many precious relatives and friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of our beloved Mary will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday September 17th at Washburn McReavy Funeral Chapel, Vernon Ave. and Hwy. 100, Edina. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Everyone is invited to stay for the Luncheon following the service in Fellowship Hall, same bldg.
