Mary Lisabeth "Beth" Nigro

Mary Lisabeth "Beth" Nigro, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend, passed away on March 3, 2024 with her devoted husband, John, holding her hand. She was born on February 10, 1940 in Virginia, Minnesota to father Arne Carlson and mother Catherine Tuomi who raised her along with Beth's loving dad, William Tuomi. She grew up with her three sisters Margie Hallin (Bill), Ginny Smith (Tom) and Mary Lundsten (Tom), and graduated Cum Laude from the College of St Scholastica with a degree in mathematics. Beth and John were married on August 24,1963, and moved to Bloomington in 1970. She was a high school math and English teacher in Richfield and Edina. They have three children: Tom (Lori), Mark and Renee (Jacques) and they have eight grandchildren: Samantha & Kayla, Geno & Nicole & Roman, and Luc & Dan & Jordan and four great-grandchildren: Vinny & Beatrix and Finley & Sawyer Sue. Guided by her faith in God, Beth found purpose and strength in her beliefs and her family. She didn't like to cook but she loved singing & dancing, reading & puzzles, bike rides & helping others (usually with math). She adored her husband John and their 61-year marriage is a testament to their enduring devotion to each other and was filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. They faced life's challenges hand-in-hand, their bond growing stronger with each passing year. They cherished the simple joys of life, finding happiness in each other's company and leaving behind a legacy that speaks to the enduring power of love. Beth was a wonderful sister, friend, wife, mother and nana, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We are thankful for the time we had with her, the memories we created and the love she so generously shared. We will forever treasure the lessons she taught us - about love, about sacrifice, and about the importance of family. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the very special people who cared for Beth, especially Marcia and Brenda as well as Rachel and Hawa and the incredible caretakers during her final days: Mackenzie, Makayla and Alicia. Their dedication and kindness brought us comfort and peace for which we are eternally grateful. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday March 15th at 3pm, with a visitation beginning at 2pm, at Washburn McReavy Funeral Home at 2300 West Old Shakopee Road Bloomington, MN with a light meal served afterward.
