Mary A (Pathos) DeMoss

DeMoss, Mary A. (nee Pathos) age 82 of Edina, Minnesota, passed away January 31, 2016. Born in Boyd, WI, raised in Eau Claire, WI, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Demetres and Catherine Pathos, Uncle Peter Mouzakis, and brother, George Pathos. Survived by loving husband of 52 years, John C. DeMoss, sister Sophia Pathos, daughters, Christine (Peter) Moe, Dr. Catherine DeMoss, Diane (Jon) Powers, Joanne (David) LaValle, six grandchildren, John and William Moe, Joseph and Ann Powers, Madeline and Emily LaValle, sister-in-law Ann Pathos, brothers-in-law, Dr. Bill C. DeMoss, Charles C. DeMoss, and Michael C. (Maureen) DeMoss, nephews, James (Sally) Pathos, Peter (Ashley) Pathos, Nick (Shelli) Pathos, John (Judi) Blake, Dr. Christopher DeMoss, John (Marjorie) DeMoss, nieces, Katherine Scattergood, Dr. Elizabeth Blake, Evan (Jim) Hermodson, Jane (Graham) Woodall and many, many wonderful friends. Devoted wife, mother and grandmother (yia-yia), she will be dearly missed. Mary was a past member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in St. Paul and for 52 years a faithful member of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis. Growing up, Mary was a proud and active member of Wisconsin 4H, winning the Key Award in 1955. She was also involved in the family chicken hatchery business in Eau Claire and later became a businesswoman. Mary was an avid traveler who loved to see the world with her family. She was extraordinary in her kitchen and loved cooking and baking for her large family. Mary was also proud of her involvement in the Daughters of Penelope, Philoptohos, and the American Legion Auxiliary where she had recently held the post of Chaplain. Mary was also an active mom in the Braemar Figure Skating Club and the Edina band program. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association as well as other charities and had a depth of spirit and generosity. She was a unique individual who loved life, and whose bright smile was infectious. Her proudest accomplishment was her family. She always put her family first and made family the focal point of her life - she especially loved her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren. Visitation 4-6 pm Thursday, February 4th with Trisagion Service at 6 pm at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave S., Minneapolis. Funeral Service 11 am Friday, February 5th with visitation beginning at 10 am also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church.
