Mary Iolene Adams

Mary Adams, age 84 of Bloomington, MN went to be with her savior in heaven on December 18, 2020. Mary was born in Minot, ND on April 7, 1936 to Moses "MP" and Clara Clouse. Mary was a dedicated and loving mother of five children; Michael of Princeton, MN, Diane of Edina, MN, Tom of Needham, MA, Beverly of Eden Prairie, MN and John of Shakopee, MN. Mom taught us the value of hard work, faith, love, dedication and the importance of family. Mary was the fun and loving Grandmother to Samantha (Steve) Sherwin of Chanhassen, MN and Miles Adams of Elk River, MN. They both have fond memories of family gatherings where Grandma served her famous sloppy joes, played Scrabble, card games and everyone, including Grandma Mary, trying their skills at the Wii balance board games. Mary was also "Granmare" to Ashley (Chris) Costa of Houston, TX and Kellian (Brian) Pletcher of Boston, MA. Mary, sister to twins Lyle Clouse (predeceased) and Lila Ostrand of Rainier, OR, Phyllis Myhrer of Anoka, MN, Calvin (Lee) Clouse of Minot, ND and twin sisters Sandra (John) Barrington of Shreveport, LA and Susie (Marty) Manual of Seattle, WA. Mary brought much love and laughter to her siblings and they will remember her sense of humor and her great storytelling. Mary had 36 nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary dedicated her life to the care of others and to the Lord. Mary graduated from Deaconess Lutheran College of Nursing while mentoring younger student nurses. She began her nursing career as an OB nurse and quickly realized her calling to serve and care for the elderly. She was Director of Nursing at Stevens Square Nursing Home in Minneapolis and after about 10 years Mary became the Director of Nursing at Redeemer Residence in Minneapolis where she continued caring for the elderly and mentoring caregivers for more than 30 years until her retirement. Leaving Redeemer was not the end of Mary's professional career. Mary, along with her daughter Diane, continued caring for the elderly by embracing the concept of residential care homes. Solbakken,"Sunny Hill", was created and Mary and Diane opened their first care home in 2000 and eventually grew the business to five care homes over the next 18 years. Mary provided loving and exemplary care to thousands. Public Graveside Ceremony is open to all that wish to join the family outside at 11:30 am December 22, Dawn Valley Memorial Park, 9940 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington. The Private Family Service that will be at 10:30 am December 22 will be live streamed and available on Washburn-McReavy website and the recording will be available for viewing at a later time. There will be a celebration of Mary's life at a future date to be announced. The family thanks all of you for your love, support and prayers.
