Martha Mae Yonker

nee Andersen Age 89 Of St. Paul, MN Passed away January 2, 2021 at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul, MN. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Martha was born on September 7, 1931 to Martin and Anna "Mae" (Rhode) Andersen in Lake Benton, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church of Lake Benton, MN. She attended country and public schools in Lake Benton, MN. Martha married Glenn Allen Yonker on September 26, 1948 in the United Methodist Church Parsonage in Lake Benton, MN. They were blessed with three daughters and a son. Together they operated a small gas station in Lake Benton, MN. In 1953 Martha and Glenn moved to St. Paul, MN where they raised their family. The family joined Como Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN where they became active members. When the children were in school Martha worked several years as a cafeteria worker at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She left her work at the University of St. Thomas to work eleven years as an Administrative Secretary for Como Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. Martha's other church activities included her work with the Senior Fellowship program, the Quilt Group, and as a Sunday School teacher. Martha loved her family, home, church, family camping trips, reading, traveling, sewing, and crocheting. She loved sewing quilts and clothes as well as crocheting afghans for family and friends. Martha is survived by daughters, Vivian (Daryl) Anderson, Faye Corbett and Sharon (Steven) Verhulst; 8 grandchildren, Matthew (Wendy) Anderson, Mark (Sara) Anderson, Benjamin (Qiwei) Corbett, Thomas (Melanie) Corbett, Joseph Corbett, Ryan Verhulst, Sarah Fox and Elaine (Daniel) Schmidt ; 11 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jakodi, Sadie, Layla and Brayden Anderson, Oona, John and Robert Corbett, Lilyanna Verhulst, AJ and Wyatt Schmitt, many relatives and friends. Martha is preceded in death by loving husband Glenn (2004); son Paul (2005); parents Martin and Mae; and 7 siblings. Memorials are preferred to Como Park Lutheran Church, 1376 Hoyt Ave W, St. Paul, MN 55108-2138 or a charity of your choice. BLESSED BE HER MEMORY
