MARLENE HELEN ANDERT (nee MAGNER) Beloved mother, grandmother and soon-to-be great-grandmother. Marlene lost her short but courageous battle with cancer on January 2, 2023 at the age of 82. Born to Thomas and Helen Magner in St. Paul, Minnesota, she graduated salutatorian of her class from St. Agnes High School. She married Joe Andert in 1960 and together they had six children. Marlene was deeply religious and a loving mother, devoted to raising her family who were the joy in her life. Marlene was also totally selfless, always putting the needs of others ahead of herself. Growing up she learned to twirl the baton and marched in several Winter Carnival Parades, and she was an accomplished pianist having competed in several top ten competitions at Northrup Auditorium during her high school years. She was the family manager, cooking all of the meals, sewing clothes for her children, keeping an immaculate home, and was a true animal lover. Marlene and Joe spent many years building and remodeling homes and taking family RV trips. Marlene also became Joe's silent but steady partner in his business of transcribing court hearings during their retirement years. As her children grew up, got married and had families of their own, she thrived on seeing where their lives were going and watching grandchildren grow and flourish. Marlene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Joe Andert, and her parents. She is survived by her children Lynn (Patrick) Fischer, Joe (Kathy) Andert, Greg (Kristi) Andert, Sharon (Rob) Zurn, Laurie (Dave) Gallion), and Kevin (Marj) Andert; her grandchildren Nicole (Jeremy), Danielle, Blake, Kyler, Noah, Ryann, Erin, Matthew, Colin and Kelsie. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Magner, many nieces and nephews, and the most wonderful neighbors, especially Kim and Mike Richardson. Mass at St. Odilia Catholic Church for immediate family only. Mom deeply appreciated the comfort and genuine kindness they provided during her last weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Maryknoll Society or Second Harvest Food Shelf.
