Mark Roy Ellenberg

Mark Roy Ellenberg, age 71, of Naples, Florida and Apple Valley, Minnesota passed away surrounded by his family on June 17, 2023 after a valiant two-month health battle. Mark was born in Minneapolis on April 3, 1952 to the late Merton and Phyllis Ellenberg. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Bruce Ellenberg. Mark served on the Minneapolis Police Department for over 30 years, retiring in 2006 as the Captain of the Investigative Division. He was most proud of his service as a homicide detective. Mark also worked as a Major League Baseball Authenticator at the Minnesota Twins ballpark and internal security for the Minnesota Vikings. Mark treasured the time he spent with family and friends. He and his wife Bobbi loved hosting friends and family at their homes in Apple Valley and Naples. He especially loved celebrating the holidays and making them special for his family. Mark was a fixture at his grandchildren's sports and school events, cheering them on as they participated in baseball, basketball, dance, football, softball, and soccer. Mark greatly enjoyed traveling. His career took him to Japan (for the World Baseball Classic) and London (with the Minnesota Vikings). Highlights of his travels include a road trip through Europe, visits to many National parks, riding his Harley Davidson to Sturgis, trips to Las Vegas with friends, and countless drives up to Ely. Mark is survived by his wife, Bobbi; daughters, Kimberly Ellenberg (Brad Mathis), Kristina (Shawn) Balluff, Lisa Ellenberg (Jesse Linhoff), Jaclyn Fredrickson; step-daughter, Lauren Linder, step-son, Neal Linder (Charlotte Carlsen); grandchildren, Hailey, Austin, Nathan, Grace, Avery, and baby boy due soon; sisters-in-law, Judy Ellenberg, Patti (Bill) Olson, Brenda Teverbaugh; brothers-in-law, Bill (Penny) Pipho, Michael (Lynn) Pipho; nephews and nieces, Keith (Kris) Ellenberg, Deanna (Brent) Kropelnicki, Krista Pipho (Alex Saunders), Molly (Mike) Devlin, Kyle (Kaleigh) Pipho, Evan Pipho, Sarah Pipho, Kristen Pipho, Seth Pipho; godson, Paul Towley; and numerous other cherished relatives and friends. Mark lived his life serving others while on the Minneapolis Police Department, helping friends and being an amazing role model to his family. Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday, June 27th at 11 am at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Apple Valley, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials to Minneapolis Police Honor Guard and Color Guard Foundation or the American Lung Association. Arrangements entrusted to Washburn-McReavy, Edina, Minnesota.
