Mark A. Eberhart

Mark was surrounded by family and friends when he passed into eternal life on January 22, 2011. He was born in Minneapolis on February 7, 1956. He is survived by his mother Nancy of St. Paul, his father Paul of Bloomington; brothers David (Julie) and Karl (Karen), nieces Emily and Lauren, nephews Aaron, Ryan and Nathan, special Aunt Lois (Bob) and aunts, uncles and cousins in Alaska, California, Florida and Wisconsin, as well as his grandmother Ruth Eberhart. Mark grew up in Minnesota, Michigan and Connecticut and graduated from St. Paul Murray High School in 1973. He attended Hamline University and St. Cloud State College before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1977-1981. He was a Mess Specialist onboard the destroyer USS Cone in the Atlantic Fleet and later served as a Personnelman with Air Squadron VP-48 in the Pacific. From 1984 until his passing, Mark worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was a former APWU local officer and delegate. He had been a lay minister and was most recently a member of Jehovah Lutheran Church in St. Paul. He was a real history buff and liked studying WWII. Mark loved sports, especially Golden Gopher football, basketball, volleyball, as well as the U of M Marching Band. He also enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins. Trains fascinated him and he made several cross-country trips by rail. Travel was another of Mark's passions. He made repeat visits to San Diego and Hawaii. Duluth was another favorite destination. He made many visits to the annual Oshkosh Air Show and took great delight in eating his way around the Minnesota State Fair every August. Mark's cheerful attitude and friendly way made him friends everywhere he went. He was a big favorite with kids, especially his nieces and nephews. He loved people and took great care of his family. To say he will be greatly missed by all who knew him is a tremendous understatement. Visitation will be Friday, January 28th 5-9 PM at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM-PURCELL FUNERAL HOME (651-646-2844); 536 N. Snelling Ave., St. Paul. Funeral service, Saturday, January 29th 10:00 AM (Visitation starting at 9 AM) at JEHOVAH LUTHERAN CHURCH; 1566 Thomas Ave. at Snelling Ave., St. Paul. Interment Roselawn Cemetary, St. Paul, Minnesota. Arrangements are with Holcomb-Henry-Boom Funeral Home, 536 Snelling Ave, N., St. Paul. Memorials to the family are preferred.
