Marilyn Ruth Manley

Manley, Marilyn Ruth (née Troy, Johnson), aged 87, of Rogers, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2024, with her loving husband at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Ruth Troy; her brother, Bill; and her cherished grandchild, Dean. Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, David Manley; her children, Mark (Pam) Johnson and Lori (Gary) Moore; her stepchildren, Robert (Joni) Manley, Wendy Hills (née Manley), Dawn (Jay) Holm (née), and Diane Gertzen (née); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Benjamin (Dawn) Johnson (Bryce, Liam, Rhett, Easton), Robyn (Greg) Troyer (Louisa, Natalie), Jonathan (Rosemarie) Johnson, Kimberly (Christopher) Mullet (Piper, Olivia), Jeremiah (Vanessa) Johnson (Thea), Jacob (Lisa) Johnson (Skye, Jack), Lauryl (Wade) Van Kempen, Lillian Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Allison Moore, Jesse Moore, Ryan Manley, Amanda Manley, Victoria (Justin) Jacobson (Sedona, Cloie, Izzabella), Melissa (John) Vocelka (Rebekah, Alice), Kyle (Madison) Hills, Chloe Hills, Sean (Amy) Holm, Jennifer Holm, Becca Holm, Brendon Gertzen, and Brittany Gertzen. A proud alumna of Robbinsdale High School (1954) and Augsburg University (1958), Marilyn also earned a Master of Education from the University of Minnesota in 1989. She dedicated over 30 years to teaching in the Robbinsdale School District. A devout Christian, Marilyn a long-time member of New Hope Church in New Hope, Minnesota. Her talents were many and varied: She was an accomplished skier, serving on the National Ski Patrol for over 30 years, a dedicated member of the "Silver Sneakers" program, an enthusiastic line dancer, and a talented decorator. Marilyn was not only a dedicated mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a teacher, but also a cherished friend to many. Her ability to tell a story that captured the whole room, leaving everyone in laughter, was unmatched. This gift made her company a joy and her absence deeply felt. Funeral services will be held on March 25, 2024, at the New Hope Church, located at 4225 Gettysburg Avenue North, New Hope, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 11:00am, the church service from 11:00am to 12:00pm, and the reception from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The interment will follow at Washburn McReavy Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, located at 5125 W. Broadway in Crystal, Minnesota.
