Sazevich, Marie Louise (nee Thalhuber) Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. Age 85, died August 23, 2011, at her Catholic Eldercare home in Minneapolis, surrounded by her children. Preceded in death by husband, Leonard G. Sazevich; parents, Rudolph J. and Catherine (Simota) Thalhuber; brothers, Arthur R. and James A. Thalhuber; sisters, Dorothy C. Saiko and Bernice A. Gau. Survived by loving children, Leonard J. of Nevada, Robert L. of Cottage Grove, James A. Sazevich of St. Paul, Kathleen A. (Richard P.) Schlosser of Roseville, Mary A. (Oscar P.) Hilario of San Diego, and Jean M. (David A. Hedlund) Sazevich of Minneapolis; dear grandchildren, Karl Martin Hedlund of Mpls., Nina Marie and Maria Louisa Hilario of San Diego, and Oscar J. Hilario (Fani) and their children Oscar Jayden and Kaliyah of Las Vegas, NV; also her two brothers, Donald G. Thalhuber of St. Paul, and Richard C. (Beverly) Thalhuber of Woodbury, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Marie was born November 17, 1925 in St. Paul, and grew up in Frogtown, the granddaughter of Austrian and Bohemian immigrants. She attended St. Agnes grade school, and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1944. In high school she got her nickname "Sunshine". Her classmates said: "When Marie walks in, gloom walks out." She met Leonard while roller skating and they married in 1946. Their six children were born between 1947 and 1963. Marie went to work to help support a growing family, and worked for several years as a part-time sales clerk, lastly at Sears on Rice Street for 13 years. She was a top-notch sales lady who could sell you anything from jewelry to jackets, candy to car batteries. Injured in a bus accident in 1975, Marie worked hard to stay independent, and busied herself with volunteer work. She discovered Camp Courage in later years, and spent many wonderful vacations with the gals in Cabin Six. She moved to Catholic Eldercare ten years ago, and has spent the past decade making new friends, and continuing to enjoy life, and inspiring those around her. Her greatest joy in recent years was the birth of her two great-grandchildren. She made the most of life's simple pleasures, and practiced what she had always told her children, that is "Live while you are living." Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Saturday, August 27, 2011, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 804 2nd St. N.E. Mpls. Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church and also Friday, August 26, 5-8 PM at: Washburn-McReavy Southeast Chapel 612-379-2368 200 Central Ave. S.E.
