Marcella "Marcie" M. Peterson

Marcella "Marcie" Peterson, age 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family she so deeply loved. Marcie was born on February 6, 1947, to Leonard and Velma (Shaw) Mogard. Raised in Dawson, MN, she carried with her the small-town values of family, hard work, kindness, and humor throughout her life. Marcie proudly dedicated much of her career to the Bureau of Engraving, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dependability. She also treasured the friendships she made with "the ladies from work." A passionate fan of Minnesota sports, Marcie brought that same loyal, cheering spirit to her own family's sidelines. She was a fiercely proud grandmother who took great joy in following the sporting events, milestones, and accomplishments of her grandchildren, always serving as their biggest supporter. Her youthful spirit naturally drew her grandchildren close, whether for game nights, NCIS viewing parties, Pizza Ranch outings, or simply time spent laughing together. While she was the first to admit she wasn't the biggest cook, her signature dishes - the legendary ring noodle hotdish and famous chicken salad - became heartwarming staples of family holidays and gatherings. She was quick with a laugh and happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Throughout her illness, Marcie faced each step with remarkable courage, optimism, and grace. Her steady, "I'll be there" spirit reflected the strength, positivity, and love that defined her life. Above all else, Marcie treasured her family. Marcie is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert "Pete" Peterson; her children, Tammy (Tom) Erickson, Toni (Jason) Hoffa, and Todd (Ann) Peterson; her cherished grandchildren, Brittany (Jeff), Bryce, Sam, Grace, Claire, Nolan, and Mallory; her precious great-granddaughter, Olivia; her siblings, Cliff (Jeanne) Mogard, Nancy Haukos, Dennis Mogard, Cheryl (Gene) Putzier, Glenice (Wally) Augeson, Ron (Cindy) Mogard, and Sandy (Perk) Mogard; along with many other family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Velma Mogard; and her brothers, Don (Loretta) Mogard, Virgil (LaVonne) Mogard, and Gord (Sheila) Mogard. Though she may have been little, Marcie had the biggest heart. She will be remembered for her warmth, sense of humor, devotion to family, courage, optimism, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her.
