Madeline Joo Reis

Madeline Joo Reis (Maddie), 30, of Princeton, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by her family on January 24, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Maddie was born in South Korea on April 23, 1993. She was the cherished daughter of Jeanell and Kevin Reis, and grew up alongside sister, Allison, and cousin, Gabby, in Shoreview. Maddie attended St. Odilia School and graduated from Mounds View High School in 2011. She moved to Duluth, where she studied at UMD, served as a class representative in the Student Association, and worked alongside many friends at Burrito Union. After she received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology, Maddie dedicated her career to caring for and educating children at Goddard School in Brooklyn Park, and later as a consultant in family and childcare for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Maddie met the love of her life, Jake Chaffee, in 2016. Together, they built a life in Princeton, renovated a house, and enjoyed their pets (dogs, Avery, Cedar and Bullet, and a flock of chickens). On Christmas Day 2022, Jake proposed to Maddie; they were to be married on October 25, 2024. More than anything else in life, Maddie wanted to be a mother. Her greatest dream came true on August 3, 2023, when she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Charlotte Jolene Chaffee. Maddie was a fantastic parent, partner, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a beautiful person who cared deeply for everyone in her life. Maddie will be remembered for her outgoing, bubbly, and vivacious personality as well as her kind and tender heart. She is survived by fiancé Jake Chaffee and daughter Charlotte Jolene Chaffee, parents Jeanell and Kevin Reis, sister Allison Ethen (Nicholas), and beloved cousin Gabrielle Doran. Please join us in celebrating Maddie's life on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Incarnation Lutheran Church, located at 4880 Hodgson Road, Shoreview, Minnesota. A visitation will precede the service by 1-hour, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and a reception will follow.
