Lucille Adeline Kapusta

Kapusta, Lucille A. (Bjorklund) Lucille Kapusta (Bjorklund) peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank. They had been married 56 years. As she said, "We enjoyed a good life together". Confined to a hospital bed in their living room for the last 2 1/2 years of his life, Lucille was his caregiver--attentive to all his needs and providing the wonderful home cooked meals he always appreciated. Although difficult at times, it was an opportunity she considered it a gift from God. He gave her the daily strength to provide the care Frank needed. Lucille is survived by daughters Joan (Jack) Coop and Ann (Wade) Nelson. Lucille was a special mom who cared deeply for both her daughters and their husbands. Grandchildren Tim Coop, Chris (Robert) Beckmann, Janice (Paul) Ahlers, and Julie (Mike) Rue. She loved to read, play games, and make their favorite treats. Great-grandchildren include Shyla, Aleah, and Kyra Ahlers; and Jonah, Silas, Lydia, Jude Rue. Her first great- grandchild, Jonah, arrived when she 90. She was thrilled! She loved when they came to visit, enjoyed keeping track of their activities, and receiving pictures. She even enjoyed her grand-dog Oscar, a large goldendoodle, who came to visit her at TowerLight several times. In 1940, when Lucille was just 22, her mother was struck by a car and passed away instantly. Mom always wished she would have had the chance to tell her mom she loved her, say "good bye", and share the news about her engagement to Frank. They postponed their wedding until 1942. Lucille's dad and her 2 youngest brothers, Lloyd and Jim, joined newlyweds Lucille and Frank as they rented a home in St. Louis Park. Lucille became the caregiver for her brothers. They, especially Jim, often thought of her as "mother". Their children and grandchildren were very special to her, thinking of her more like a "Grandma" than an aunt. In 1950, Frank and Lucille built their "forever home" on Texas Avenue in St. Louis Park. Frank designed the house limited to the amount of money they had on hand. Then, along with Lucille's dad, they spent many long hours working on the house. In the evenings, Lucille laid much of the maple flooring. In 1969, Frank and Lucille purchased a cabin on Lake Mille Lacs. She loved it at the cabin--even though she worked as hard at the cabin as she did at home. As she said, it was fun because it was in a different place! Lucille enjoyed preparing meals, baking, canning, creating incredible Christmas cookie trays to share with family and friends, and entertaining guests. She and Frank enjoyed traveling and visiting friends on their yearly treks to Albuquerque and South Padre Island. Lucille began serving on the White Cross Committee at the Evangelical Free Church (Park Community) in 1954 and continued until the early 2000's. She served as co-chair for many years and sewed many quilt tops for the committee members to tie. The quilts were sold and the money was used for missions. White Cross was a special place to use her gifts for the Lord. Lucille was 100 years old when she moved out of her home and into TowerLight Senior Living in St. Louis Park where she continued to live independently in her own apartment. She enjoyed meeting new friends, participating in exercise class, attending musical performances, crafts, seeing the "grandkids", and many other activities. In March 2024, she moved in the memory care unit at TowerLight. On the day prior to her passing, her daughters were able to spend the day with her. It was an incredible day--laughing as she told humorous stories, crying through the touching stories, listening to hymns, praising God for a life well lived, and praying with her that she would soon go home to be with her Heavenly Father. Lucille loved and cared for others. She had a strong work ethic--as young as 4 she was already washing dishes and sweeping. She loved her daughters and their families. She loved the Lord and spent time reading her Bible and praying each morning. She felt truly blessed by God. Thank you to all of the wonderful staff members at TowerLight. You were so good with Mom. Thank you to all the friends she made while she was there. She cared about each of you. She had a well read, coffee-stained Bible that sat on her kitchen table since the 1970's. The pages from Psalms that spoke of thankfulness and God's love were in shreds from repeated readings. The following verses are just a few of the many that she had highlighted: Psalm 92: (1) It is good to say, "Thank you" to the Lord, to sing praises to the God who is above all gods. (2) Every morning tell Him "Thank you for your kindness", and every evening rejoice in His faithfulness. (The Living Bible) Age 105, of St. Louis Park, MN passed away on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024. Lucille is preceded in death by husband, Frank Kapusta; parents Alma and Walmer Bjorklund; brothers, Wallace, Lawrence, Lloyd, and James. She is survived by daughters, Joan (Jack) Coop and Ann (Wade) Nelson; grandchildren, Tim Coop, Chris (Robert) Beckmann, Janice (Paul) Ahlers, and Julie (Mike) Rue. Great grandchildren, Shyla, Aleah, Kyra Ahlers and Jonah, Silas, Lydia, Jude Rue; and many dear relatives and friends. Lucille was very loving and caring, trusting God to lead and guide her. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Park Community Church, 6805 Minnetonka Blvd, St. Louis Park, MN 55426. Visitation will be at the church 1 hour prior to memorial service, with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
