Lorraine Malisheski

Lorraine Malisheski passed away March 28th, 2026 surrounded by her children after 96 years of life and a brave fight with Leukemia. Lorraine Malisheski is survived by son Kenny (Kellie) Malisheski, son Jerry (Janet) Malisheski, wife of son James, Cheryl Malisheski, daughter Pam (Chuck) Hanson, her 15 grandchildren, her 13 great grandchildren and her sister Delores Watercott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Malisheski, daughter Colleen Cadwell, son James Malisheski, granddaughter Stacy Malisheski, her parents Bill and Rose Novak, and eight of her siblings. Lorraine Malisheski was born on June 2, 1929, daughter of Bill and Rose Novak, one of ten children. As a child, she attended a one room school house in Benton County and the family attended Gilman Catholic Church. Lorraine married Norbert Malisheski on September 7, 1949 in Gilman, Minnesota. The couple lived on a little farm in Ramey, Minnesota until 1951 where they eventually moved to Minneapolis. In 1958, they moved into a brand new home in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. They had five children, Kenny, Colleen, Jerry, James, and Pam. Lorraine and Norbert had a wonderful life together where faith, family and friends were very important to them. They also went on many adventures camping in their motorhome as a family. Lorraine was a homemaker until 1974 where she took on a part-time job at Shopper City in Columbia Heights. After, she worked full-time at Bank's department store. She took time off to care for Norbert during his last days after he got sick in 1989. Afterwards, she returned to work and retired in 1992. After Norbert passed, Lorraine moved into her condo and became more involved in the church. She loved volunteering for the pastoral ministry at Immaculate Conception Church in Columbia Heights. She even introduced the prayer blankets that they made and gave to the homebound and the sick. She was also a devout funeral lunch lady, helped clean the church, and was committed to her scheduled time for adoration. Lorraine spent time volunteering at Catholic Elder Care as the "Candy cart lady". She belonged to Saint Jude's Circle and they did the Fun Fest bake sale booth every year. Lorraine had lots of wonderful friends where they would walk together every day for exercise, played cards, went on trips together, and were all devoted to the church. Lorraine was known by family and friends for her delicious cabbage rolls and for gifting the grandchildren every Christmas with gift cards from McDonald's. Lorraine will be remembered by her family as a loving mom who was a strong, independent and faithful servant to our Lord, Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
