Lorraine Lundberg

Lundberg, Lorraine G. 95, of Minneapolis, died December 7, 2006 at the Annandale Care Center. She has been a resident of Annandale since November, 2000. Private interment, Hillside Cemetery. Please join us for the Memorial Service to be held at Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church, 5300 10th Avenue South, Minneapolis, at 3 PM on Monday, December 11. Lorraine Grace Bloom was born on July 24, 1911, at home, to Arvid and Selma (Dahlgren) Bloom, in Minneapolis. She was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church, attended Sumner School, Franklin Jr. High and graduated from North High School in 1929. She married George W. Lundberg on May 1, 1937, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Lorraine worked for The W.T. Rawleigh Co. from 1929-1940 and at the Student Health Service, University of Minnesota from 1961-1979. Lorraine loved baking cookies, Christmas, family gatherings, her flower gardens, football and ladies' luncheons at home. She was an avid reader and also worked part-time for the Minneapolis Council of Churches and was a mealtime friend at the Walker Homes. Lorraine was a good listener and interested in all that life had to offer. A great joy in her life was her loving friendship with her sister-in-law, Eva Bloom Howe. Those two are gracious matriarchs. She has been a member of Nokomis Heights since 1955 and enjoyed being a part of The XYZ Group and Ladies Fingers with her neighbor and dear friend, Florence Olson. When Lorraine moved to Annandale in 2000 she maintained her own apartment in Centennial Villa for over 6 years and we are all grateful for her dear friend there, Carol Petersen. Lorraine enjoyed coffeetime and musical activities. Lorraine is survived by former daughter-in-law, Sue (Macklin) Bloom; sons, Paul of Osseo and David & daughter- in-law Barbara, Annandale; sister- in-law, Eva Bloom Howe, Minneapolis; nephews, Don Bloom, Bloomington and Fred (Mary) Bloom, Golden Valley; niece, Linda (John) Hovan, Ramsey; grandchildren, Lisa (Manoj) Kurup, Waukesha, WI, Sheri Lundberg and Scott Lundberg, Milwaukee, WI; Amanda (Shawn) Smoot, Watertown, MN, Gretchen Lundberg, Plymouth and Jon (Melissa) Lundberg, Monticello, MN; 8 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Reuben Bloom in 1964 and Emer Bloom in 1971; son, Jon ("Jack") Lundberg in 1972; husband, George Lundberg in 1978; nephew, Richard Bloom in 2001; sister-in-law, Eva (Sarenpa) Bloom in 2004; and others on her life's journey, Michelle Macklin; special friend, Irving Hoel and special cousin, Gunnhild (Olson) Hermes.
