Lisa Aieleene DeCosta-West (nee Lee-Johnson)

Lisa Aieleene DeCosta-West (nee Lee-Johnson) went home to be with her Lord on February 9, 2025, at the age of 68. She passed away peacefully with her children by her side, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service. Born on June 13, 1956, in Cassopolis, MI, and raised in Chicago, IL, Lisa later made Minneapolis, MN, her home. Throughout her life, she was deeply committed to serving others, both personally and professionally. With determination and passion, she earned two master's degrees and dedicated her career to the Health & Human Services field. Lisa held impactful leadership roles, serving as the Social Worker Supervisor at Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Program Director at The Jeremiah Program, and Executive Director of Genesis II for Women. She later retired from Hennepin County after serving as the Director of the Front Door Program in Child Protection Services. Lisa's unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the foundation of her life. She found joy in singing praises early in the morning and was a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew her. Her intelligence, creativity, and deep empathy made her a guiding light in the lives of many. A devoted wife to Robert Johnson and a loving mother to their six children, Andre Johnson, Tamika Ware, Marquis Johnson, Tiana Lee, Jakarta Turner, and Miyako Lee, Lisa exemplified selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a rare and beautiful gift for making each person she encountered feel valued and special. Her kindness, wisdom, and boundless love will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Lisa was preceded in death by her daughter, Tiffany; her grandson, Robert S. Ware; her grandparents, Archie P. Davis and Evelyn Williams Davis; her mother, Marguerite Levalue Lee (Davis); her father, Charles E. Lee; her sister, Adrienne Lee-Bennett; and her brothers, John (Alex) Lee, and Ronald Lee IV. She is survived by, Robert; her children, Andre (Shaunna), Tamika (Bruce), Marquis (Esther), Tiana (Tre), Jakarta (Anthony), and Miyako; her 18 grandchildren; her great-grandchild; her sisters, Antoinette Lee (Lawrence Plummer), Regina Brown (Albert), Marguerite Lee, and Nymiura Lee; her brothers, Charles Lee (Carol), Robert Lee (Debra), and Rameses Lee; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Lisa's love and generosity knew no bounds. She was a devoted humanitarian, always offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and a prayer. Her presence brought comfort and hope to so many, and her legacy of faith and service will continue to inspire generations to come. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
