Vogt, Linda Kay (Age 68) After a long and courageous struggle with early onset Alzheimer's Disease, Linda has finally been set free to join her mother Fay, her father Roger and her beloved aunt Frankie who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Peter, daughters Jaime, Stephanie and Andrea, and her granddaughter Madeline who stole her heart. She is also survived by her sister Carol Hiley, nephews Todd and Brett Hiley, Brett's wife Holly and their four children all of Seattle WA. Linda was born to be a designer. As a teenager, while baby-sitting she would rearrange furnishings and accessories. She studied at the U of M. receiving her degree in Interior Design and was proud of her Lifelong membership in the American Society of Interior Design (ASID). She was a long-time employee of Gabbert's Design Studio, involved mainly in Residential Design, but also completing Commercial projects such as the head- quarters of Minnetonka Inc. And Calvin Klein Cosmetics in NYC. She had a style and a look that was loved by her clients - something she called "Elegant Simplicity." Linda was a beautiful woman! She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Wife, and Friend. Her smile, charm and laughter endeared her to everyone who met her. She was always the life of the party with her infectious laughter, heart-warming presence and amazing sense of humor. Away from her passion, designing things and making everything more beautiful, she loved spending time with her family. "Sneaking" away to shop, hunt for antiques, whether ink wells, magnifying glasses, candles made with horns, or a myriad of other treasures that were tastefully arranged and displayed in her beautiful home on Lake Minnetonka, was another consummate passion. Linda loved to decorate her home, especially at Christmas. She would devote days trying to place everything in its right place. The same was true when hosting dinner parties - table settings had to be perfect. Hers was not an easy life medically. As a child she suffered severe arthritis that forced her to be bed- ridden for more than a year. Arthritis continued throughout her adult life, often forcing her to stop work for weeks at a time. Later she dealt with breast cancer, chemo and radiation and finally early onset Alzheimer's. She never ever lost heart and stayed "up, elegant and sophisticated," not revealing the pain she was dealing with. She would wake up each morning and say " I choose to be happy!" It's a choice we all can make. "Linda was unstoppable, not because she did not have failures or doubts, but because she continued on despite them." She will be missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace Dear Linda. You fought a valiant fight. Special thanks to her many caregivers and particularly to the long and loving care of Mrs. Gail Lewis and Mrs. Suzy Sween. We could not have traversed this difficult disease without your tender loving care. Also special thanks to the great and dedicated staff of Trails of Orono who recognized the grace, elegance, courage and unfailing thankfulness Linda displayed throughout her care till the very end. Also thanks to Dr. Ron Peterson and all the members of his team in the Alzheimer's Research Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. We appreciate all your efforts and support over the years.
