Linda Sui-Ling Ly

Linda Sui-Ling Ly, age 61, of Eden Prairie, MN, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family at Methodist Hospital. She was born on January 25, 1963, in Hong Kong, and later immigrated to Minnesota with her family in 1971, bringing with her a spirit of resilience, strength, and determination. Linda graduated from South High School in 1981 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota where she received her associate's degree from the College of Liberal Arts. Linda was a devoted wife to her husband of 34 years, Lan Ly. Their partnership was a testament of time and mutual respect, characterized by their unwavering affection for one another. Together, they built a life filled with shared dreams and cherished traditions while raising their two children. As a mother, Linda's love and dedication was boundless and her children were her greatest joy. She worked tirelessly to provide them with every opportunity to succeed and flourish. Linda supported her children in all aspects of life and did everything in her power to help make their dreams a reality, even at the expense of her own aspirations. Her kindness, generosity, and ability to listen made her a beloved friend to many. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or to offer a word of comfort to those in need. Her warm spirit often left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Linda found great joy in cooking and dining with loved ones and cherished moments spent together around the table. She enjoyed eating her favorite meals, trying new dishes, sharing old stories, and creating new memories. She also found joy in traveling, frequently to Chicago, to explore its vibrant cuisine, purchase global ingredients, and drew inspiration to incorporate into her own home cooking. Her generosity and portion sizes filled with love and warmth will be fondly remembered. She will be deeply missed, but her vibrant spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Linda is survived by her loving husband Lan Ly, her children Eric Ly and Jamie (Roy) Johnson, her siblings Janet (Man-Ying) Ng and Cliff (Belynda) Tse, her brother-in-law, Ricky Kiang, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joa Chez and Ng-Nui, and her sister, Sui Kiang. A memorial service to honor Linda's life will be held on September 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55408. A gathering of family and friends to follow.
