Linda Helen Ireland

Linda Ireland (nee Westbrock) was born April 23rd,1948 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Marcella and LeRoy Westbrock. She was the 4th of 7 children and grew up in Holdingford, Minnesota. She graduated from Holdingford High school in 1966 and went on to Brainard Technical College for dental assisting. She moved to the Twin Cities and continued her education at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She married in 1971 and her children Katie and Sarah were born in 1976 and 1978. She divorced in 1981. She furthered her education in 1989, graduating from Concordia College with a BA in Organizational Management and Communications. She raised her girls in Blaine, Minnesota while working for Group Health in Spring Lake Park and then Pilot City Health Center In North Minneapolis. During her time at Group Health, she served as a Union Steward, helping secure safe working conditions and appropriate pay for the workers. While at Pilot City she continued her dental hygiene education, adding qualifications in dental anesthesia and periodontology. She welcomed her grandson Kellan in 2003 and delighted in his inquisitive and busy nature and later his musical stylings. Linda loved the outdoors. She was passionate about gardening. She spent a lot of weekends camping with her girls and sister Sharon. She also enjoyed bird watching. She was incredibly proud of hiking the Grand Canyon. Linda was an awesome cook. Ask her daughters (and their friends) about her homemade tortilla for fajitas! Linda was an avid reader. Everything from fiction to biographies. She was passionate about politics. Her daughters were subjected to watching election results every election cycle growing up. She also passed down her love of football. She was always a Vikings fan. She moved a few times, leaving gorgeous and wild gardens in her wake, eventually settling in Crystal Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law Eric, parents Marcella and LeRoy, brothers Clyde and Joe, and sister Doris. Her memorial service will be At Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Chapel 5125 West Broadway, Crystal on Saturday, July 25th.
