Lillian Spurlock

Spurlock Lillian Alice, wife of Henry Clay Spurlock, Chanhassen, MN passed away peacefully Sunday, April 27, 2003. Lillian, daughter of John and Hilda Lehtola, Lake Norden, SD was born Nov. 26, 1921. Lillian and Henry were married Oct. 27, 1945 and have been happily married for the past 57 years. Lillian was baptized and confirmed in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, SD. Lillian loved quilting, sewing and cooking. She blessed each of her children and grandchildren with handcrafted quilts specially designed for each one. They are cherished keepsakes today. Many of Lillian's special recipes have been handed down and have become "heirloom" recipes for her family and friends. She is survived by 8 children; 4 daughters, Mrs. Kitty Coplan, Mrs. Gwen (Jack) Mashek, Mrs. Bernice (Khalil) Kharrat of Mpls., Mrs. Linda (Larry) Mattila of Allentown, PA; 4 sons, Gregory (Ginny) and Roger (Jill) of Mpls., John (Lisa) of Medford, OR and Joseph of Vista, CA; 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings, Mrs. Evelyn Kangas and George Lehtola. Preceding her in death were 2 daughters, Kay and Ibby; 7 siblings and her parents. Funeral service Wednesday 7 PM, with visitation one hour before at the Washburn-McReavy Eden Prairie Chapel, 7625 Mitchell Road (1 blk N. of Hwy. 5). Interment Spurlock Cemetery in Oneida, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Spurlock Cemetery Association, 145 Napier Rd., London, KY 40744. Tho' Grandma's gone and journeyed on, she's still alive and well within our hearts, and tho' her earthly shell now rests beneath the hill we yet recall her gentle touch from not so long ago. Tho' many thought her small and frail, she was possessed of might and love, and is held dear for that same love she leaves behind with us in our best and brightest memories of yesteryear. Tho' she no longer lives among us, she's kept near us in the cherished gifts she gave - quilted tapestries, heirloom recipes - gifts we'll treasure even more now the giver's in her grave.
