Martinson, Lew H. Lew has closed his tool boxes for the last time. At the age of 83, he died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday evening, September 14, 2012. He is survived by loving family and many friends. Children: Keith (Carol), Laura Stolper, Brian (Tammy). Grandchildren: David (Jenessa), Paul (Andrea), Andrew, Luke (Nicki), Shaina (Joe), Trina (Sheila). Great Grandchildren: Saysha, Alyssa, Athena, and Ava. And by his Kitties: Sadie, Bear, and Ti. Also survived by his first wife Patricia Davis (Eberwine-Martinson) and Brother Robert Martinson. With thanks to his special buddy Max! He is preceded in death by his Mother Margaret G. Miller (Johnston- Martinson); Father Lloyd Martinson; Wife Julie Martinson; Sons Dana and Kevin Martinson; Step-Father Waldo S. Miller; and In-Laws Marie and Fred Eberwine. Lew was born February 2, 1929 in Minneapolis to Lloyd & Grace (Johnston) Martinson. Together we remember his many careers. From selling Jersey Ice Cream on his country route to farmers, stores & bars; selling life insurance with his father in law; to going on to be a carpenter building homes. His career with goodwill industries started as a truck driver, where he worked his way up to store manager and eventually to Vice President of the Minneapolis stores. He went on to being a leading seller of Outdoor Toys - Boats, Snowmobiles, and Mopeds when they first became a hit the cities in the mid 70's. Never one to sit around Lew ran his own handyman service for family and friends and then started a new chapter in his life by working for Target Stores as their "Lew of all trades" for the Lake Street and Apple Valley Stores. The nicest guy you could ever meet was always heard when Lew was talked about. He always wanted a large family and was very proud of his five children, six grandchildren and four great granddaughters. Lew's life with his second wife Julie was a roller coaster of activities, sales, art fairs, and honey-do lists for his home and his families and friends. The workbench is quiet, the toolboxes are closed but his loving heart and helping hand on all the fix-it projects will never be forgotten. Join us for a celebration of his life. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday September 19, 2012 at Washburn McReavey - Nokomis Park Chapel located at 1838 E Minnehaha Pkwy, Mpls, MN 612-721-1651.
