Lawrence Anthony Dylla

Lawrence Anthony Dylla, 90, of Crystal, MN, was called home to the Lord on April 17, 2026, in Plymouth, MN. Born May 22, 1935, in Andover, South Dakota to Julius F. Dylla and Lucy R. (Zimny) Dylla, he was the youngest of 12 children. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Community, New Hope, MN and lived a life of faith, charity, and service. He served as both an usher and Eucharistic minister for many years. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, he is survived by his wife, Sharon, children, Tom (Brenda) Dylla & Jacquelyn Dylla, 3 grandchildren (Maxwell, Troye, Madeline) and numerous nephews and nieces. Reunited in heaven with his 7 brothers and 4 sisters: Philip (Alma) Dylla, Dominic (Ann) Dylla, Raylius (Loretta) Dylla, Anthony (Collette) Dylla, Peter (Marie) Dylla, Francis (Laverne) Dylla, George (Mick) Dylla, Irene (Bill) Dohman, Agnes (Norman) Nelson, Dorothy (Wink) Eichten, and Helen (Kay) VanDover. As a young boy, Lawrence served as an altar boy at the All Saints Catholic Church in Andover, SD building a strong Catholic faith. While attending Andover High School, he was Valedictorian of his class and was often found assisting his classmates with challenging material. Later, he served his country in the Army as an enlisted soldier during peacetime from Jan 10,1958 to December 8,1959. He was given the rank of SP4 (Specialist 4th Class; a highly skilled technician with an E-4 paygrade equivalent to a Corporal) and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After being discharged from the Army, he went on and met the love of his life at a Catholic dance sponsored by the Dominic Girls in downtown Minneapolis, MN. A shy young man, he confessed at the check-in table that "maybe I shouldn't have come." However, Sharon Kellar encouraged him to stay, and they would go on to marry May 19, 1962, dancing together for the next 64 years. Along the way, Lawrence worked tirelessly for 35 years (April 26, 1961-June 30, 1996) at General Mills keeping the research wings up and running day and night. But his true love and passion was for taking care of his wife and kids. He loved being a husband and a dad and felt most at home fixing anything and everything around the house, tackling his "honey do" list, and enjoying the outdoors camping, fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, or just playing a game of catch after supper. In retirement, Lawrence and Sharon spent years traveling the globe. Their most memorable trip was an African Safari. Mass of Christian Burial: 11am, April 28, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Community in New Hope, MN. Visitation 1 hr prior. Burial at Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope, MN.
