Laurence Edward Anderson

Laurence E. Anderson of New Brighton peacefully passed away at home at the age of 96 on June 15, 2023. He was born November 29, 1926 and raised on the family farm home near Graceville, Minnesota. He attended Graceville High School and was an avid athlete. He played running back and point guard for the football and basketball teams. He earned the nickname "Speed". He graduated in 1944. After high school Laurence "Larry" began wiring farms. He married his first wife Dorothy of 42 years on June 5, 1949 in Clinton, Minnesota. They moved to Roscoe, South Dakota that year and Larry and his business partner expanded their wiring business together. In 1950 Larry and Dorothy's first son Alan was born. They moved to Northeast Minneapolis in 1952. Larry began working at Paper Cal as an electrician during the night shift. He attended Northeast Electronics Institute and graduated with an Electronics degree. The Andersons had four more children together - Myron, Diane, John and James. In 1962 Larry began selling for Executone Systems of St. Paul. Within 5 years Larry established a reputation as one of the top Executone sales people in the country. He earned equity in 1970 and became the sole owner of the company in 1990. He married his second wife Jean on May 30, 1992. The company is now known as Ideacom Mid-America. Today, Larry Anderson is considered a pioneer in the healthcare technology industry. He loved his family, friends and profession. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Sophie, sister Marcella, wife Dorothy, and sons Alan and John. He is survived by his wife Jean, Daughter Diane (Brian) sons Myron (Sue), James (Dawn), Stepson Tom Kubiak (Deb) brother Arnold and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at Senior Helpers of Roseville and St, Croix Hospice. Visitation is Thursday, June 29th from 4-7pm at Washburn-McReavy, 2901 Johnson Street NE, MPLS. Funeral is 11:00 am June 30th at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3312 Silver Lake Road, St. Anthony. Visitation at 10:00am. Private Internment immediately following service at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials preferred to be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's disease.
