Dayton - Small, LaDonna J. (Hitchings) Lived in Dayton, MN. Born June 4th, 1931, Died June 4th, 2025 at 94 years of age. Lived in Columbia Heights for 67 years! She worked 5 years at The Learning Tree as the opener and would cook breakfast and lunch. She was a member of First Lutheran Church Columbia Heights for many years. She did sewing for many years making all of her daughters clothes when they were younger, wedding dresses for many other people, plus her daughters. She made wedding cakes for many people, plus for all our birthdays, anniversaries, and many types of parties. She was involved in Rebekah Circle through First Lutheran Church. She did embroidery on flour sack dish towels. She made hundreds of them and gave 7 day (Week) sets to many of her relatives and friends. She enjoyed going to the State Fair every year. She started that tradition with her husband Morrie. They usually went on his birthday, the 25th of August but if they were not able to, they went the first day of the fair and after dad got so bad and passed, the ladies that went would take her with them. Preceded in death by: beloved husband, Morrie Small, father, John Hitchings and mother, Ethel Hitchings, sister, Shirley Gudmundsen, brother-in-law, Jerry Gudmundsen, brother, William (Bill) Hitchings, grandsons, Joe Jennico, Jason Anderson, and Mike Lally, son- in-law, Doug Hinsch, great-grand daughter, Shaelyn Jennico, special cousin, Deniece Anderson. Survived by: 6 children, Kathy (Mike) Belland, Karen Anderson (Steve Waite), Karol Johnson, Kris (Ron) Bergren, Ken (Pam) Small, Kelley Hinsch, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great, grandchildren, brother Cliff (Pat) Hitchings, sister-in-law, Jan Hitchings, also, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Service will be Friday, June 13th, 2025 at First Lutheran Church, 1555 - 40th Avenue NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421. Visitation at 10 am, service to follow at 11:00 am. Lunch to be served right after service at the church. Following lunch, processional will be to West Oak Grove cemetery, in Oak Grove.
