Kurt Ray William Johnson

Kurt Johnson, age 61, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota after a courageous battle with cancer. Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margaret Johnson; sister Vicki Meyers; and brother Michael. Kurt is survived by his loving children, Aja Rae LaChappelle (Chuck) and Talon Benavides. Along with grandchildren Easton, Cameron, Lucia; and brother Kevin Johnson (Vicki). Kurt was born on January 13, 1964, in the same city he called home throughout his life. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence left an everlasting impression on all who knew him. His bond with his children and grandchildren was a source of immense pride and joy for Kurt, he loved them all deeply. His love also extended to his brother Kevin and sister-in-law Vicki, with whom he shared a close and enduring relationship. Among those closest to Kurt was Tyson the pug-his loyal companion and "little buddy", who brought daily joy to him. A gifted mechanic with an unmatched passion for classic cars and motorcycles, Kurt found joy in restoring vintage vehicles-whether it was his own or those belonging to family or friends. His garage was often filled with the hum of engines being brought back to life and the laughter of friends gathered around for advice or assistance. Always ready to lend a hand, Kurt never hesitated to help someone in need of mechanical or bodywork repairs. His generosity and skills earned him not only admiration but also lifelong friendships. Kurt loved his time at the cabin in Annandale. He embraced the peace and quiet of being out of town -fishing, relaxing, chores, and especially spending evenings around the campfire surrounded by those he loved and treasured deeply. Kurt will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty as a friend, his devotion as a family member, and his passion for craftsmanship. He will be extremely missed but never forgotten. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. Please join us to for a memorial and celebration of life for Kurt - he asked for a "Party"! A memorial gathering to honor Kurt's life will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Crystal VFW located at 5222 Bass Lake Rd., Crystal, Minnesota 55429. Visitation will take place from Noon to 1:00 PM. A memorial eulogy and time for sharing will begin at 1:00 PM with lunch to follow. All are encouraged to bring their fondest memories of Kurt to share; if you prefer not to speak aloud yourself, written memories are welcome and will be read on your behalf.
