Kimberly Lea Mackins

Kimberly Lea Mackins, 60, died unexpectedly June 9th, 2023, in Minneapolis, MN at the University of Minnesota Fairview Research Hospital. She was born July 5th, 1962, in Union City, TN, the daughter of Billy and Melba (McFall) Mackins. Kim graduated from Burnsville Highschool. Following graduation, she valued her family and became a stay-at-home mother and caregiver. In addition to taking care of her own daughter, and all her nieces and nephews, Kim loved crossword puzzles, soap operas, and rooting for contestants on one of her favorite television shows, "The Price is Right!" Kim enjoyed singing and dancing to her favorite music videos on MTV and BET, but she mostly loved being with her family. Kim was a selfless person, and always thought of everyone else before herself, putting everyone's needs before her own, so that she could be there for her family whenever they needed her. In additional to her father (Billy), she was predeceased by two grandmothers, Vergie Story and Catherine Gray, her uncles, Michael McMillan and LC Martin, and her cousin, Lamar Mackins. Surviving in addition to her mother (Melba, of Burnsville, MN), are her daughter, Kimiko (Mackins) Doniphan, son-in law, Vaughn R. Doniphan, grandson, Vaughn J. Doniphan of St. Louis Park, MN; sister, Lori (Mackins) Blair of Union City, TN; bother Billy Mackins and sister-in-law, Karla Mackins of Apple Valley, MN; and sister, Vikki Mackins of Burnsville, MN. Additionally, she is survived by four nieces, three nephews, and three great-nieces, and one great-nephew. Kim also leaves behind a huge extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Minnesota, Tennessee, California, and Michigan, and many dear friends who love and will miss her greatly. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held Friday, June 23rd at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, 5000 W. 50th St. Hwy 100 in Edina, MN. Visitation will be at 2 pm, followed by funeral services at 3 pm. Repast will be served following the commencement of the funeral services. The many family and friends Kim leaves to this world will drift in and out of sorrow for as long as they need, but there is joy that comes in knowing that Kim is free and at peace. Though we all desired for more time with her, the legacy and impact she leaves will forever by imprinted on our hearts, until we meet again.
