Kevin Jon Olson

Kevin Jon Olson, age 69, longtime resident of Coon Rapids. Kevin was born and raised in Belmond, Iowa by Donald and Alpha Olson. After graduating Belmond High School in 1972, he attended Northwestern College until 1976, where he met many lifelong friends. After short stints at other employers, including the Billy Graham Association, Kevin spent 41 years of his career at Federal Cartridge in Anoka until his retirement in 2019. In 1980, Kevin met Robin, who became his wife two years later. Two trips to Europe together were highlighted by stops in Kevin's ancestral home of Sweden. A shih tzu and three daughters completed their family. Kevin's deep love for his family was only superseded by his love for Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He started each day with Bible reading and prayer for others. At his cherished home, Kevin enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, game shows, puzzles, and watching sports. He worked hard at everything he did, but worked hardest at making people laugh. A conversation with Kevin was not complete until he made you laugh. If you didn't laugh, the jokes got worse. Kevin was called home to Christ on October 29, 2023, following complications from his heart valve replacement. Kevin was greeted in Heaven by his dear grandparents and parents and many other relatives and friends. He is mourned and missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Robin; his beloved daughters, Amy and Tatiana; his son-in-law, Brian; his siblings, Anita (Jim) Davids, Jennifer (Steve) Brown, Wendy Schulte, and Tim (Sally) Olson; his aunt, Marlene Brown; his nephews, nieces, and other relatives, and many friends. He is also survived by daughter Rachel, whom he loved. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6, at 11 a.m. at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel (1827 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids), with visitation 1 hour prior. Treat reception at 2 PM at Federal Cartridge Clubhouse (1101 East Main Street, Anoka). In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials and contributions to Minnesota Teen Challenge, Our Daily Bread, or the Island Chapel fund at the University of Northwestern- St. Paul. Kevin was a frequent blood donor and visited isolated friends and relatives, which are other ways people can honor Kevin.
