Kenneth Tannehill

Tannehill, Kenneth L. Age 92, of Minneapolis, pass- ed away Jan. 1, 2010 at the home he loved so much with his family at his side. Born February 20, 1917 to Rose and Ralph Tannehill. Preceded in death by daughter, Susie; grandson, James Richard Brown IV; parents, and brother, Vern Tannehill. Survived by wife, Lennie; daughter, Nancy (Gary) DuPont; and son, Ken (Joelle); 8 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and many friends and coworkers. Ken graduated from South High School in 1935. his love for learning rewarded him with degrees from the University of Minnesota in Mechanical Engineering, Biochemistry and Bacteriology. His graduate studies included Metallurgy, Metallographic and Agriculture. His love for his country is what led him to volunteer his services to the Manhattan Project. He did so with honor and pride. He later received a personal commendation from then president Harry S. Truman which hangs proudly at his home on Lake Nokomis. His early work history included, supervising the process control laboratory at the TwinCity Arsenal, chemist and metallurgist at DW Onan Co. and research chemist for Pillsbury Co. and senior development engineer for Honeywell Avionics Division. After eight years with Honeywell he felt the urge to start his own company. He never again wanted to work for anyone other than himself. Ken started his first company, Twincity Metalseal, in 1950. He then followed that with Precision Fabricated Products, Microflame Inc., Printed Circuits Inc., and finally K.L. Tennehill Inc. All very successful companies. A proud member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 32nd degree. Member Lake Harriet Masonic Lodge and a member of the Zuhrah Shrine. He was also an avid sportsman. Ken loved his family and many employees. He loved working on his farm in Prior Lake raising pheasants, ducks and making it comfortable for any wildlife that would drop in for a stay. Riding his big green tractor was specially fun for him. Watching the alfalfa grow and anxiously waiting to cut and bale his bumper crop of hay. He loved to watch his bees pollinate on the flowering alfalfa blossoms. The honey he would harvest was always perfect. Just like Dad. We will miss you Dad. A special thanks to the caregivers and nursing staff of Crystal Care for their genuine love for our parents and making the past 4 years comfortable for Mom and Dad. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
