Kenneth Leitch

Leitch, Kenneth George 52, passed away peacefully at his home in Eden Prairie on September 9 after a courageous and dignified journey with ALS. He was born on October 6, 1957. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene (Bieneck) Leitch of 23 years; children, Jacob Leitch, 22, Rachel Leitch, 20, and Zach Leitch, 17, of Eden Prairie; father & mother, Roger & Shirley (Nelson) Leitch of North Branch, MN; sisters, Dee Schmidt of South St. Paul, MN and Janie Lendway of Stacy, MN; brother, Colin Leitch of Oakdale, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws who loved him dearly. Ken grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota where he attended Harding High School and Inver Grove Community College. After working various jobs, he spent the last 17 years as a stay-at-home Dad raising his three children which were the pride and joy of his life. He and his family moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1997 where they lived for five years, enjoyed living in paradise, supporting the boy's baseball programs and golfing. In 2002 they returned to Eden Prairie, Minnesota where they have lived since. Ken embraced life to the fullest. His endless sense of humor and charm brought joy to all who knew him. He loved the simpler things of life; good scotch and a fine cigar; southern rock and blues; MN Twins baseball and Green Bay Packer football; but most of all, the love of his wife and watching his children grow into the fine adults they are today. He was taken from us far too soon and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A special thanks go out to the staff of Fairview Hospice and Homecare, particularly Katie and Sheri, who lessened the burden of his journey with this disease.
